I think he just tries to look too deeply into game narratives to make things more interesting. Wouldn't really be entertaining to hear him recount Mario's narrative as is.

Game Theory is boring. It never fit my tastes. His 5 million FNaF videos didn't help their image any better. To make it worse, every video was rather long.

I think he's just having fun and getting views. He even ends every video with "that's just a theory".

Considering that mario is a kid game series. Diving into the narrative of the series is a little silly. He's likely making his vids to draw attention. Haters get a lot of love.

He's been fairly transparent about making videos that get people to click on them. And other than whatever indie game is big at the moment, nothing matches the attention that Nintendo games get. Especially Mario.

If he made a video called "Are the Helghan Empire the Good Guys," how many people would even know the video was about Killzone?
