I would say irrelevant. Which big games had EA for Wii? The biggest selelrs according to VGC were Monopoly and MySims. I'm sure that created the success of the Wii. Knowing EA the support will be crappy anyways.

But surely an unprecented partnership.

Just because those might be what sold best doesnt mean EA didnt bring big games to the Wii.

multiple FIFA, Harry Potter, Madden, Medal of Honor, NBA, Need for Speed, Sims (both mainline and exclusive spinoffs), Tiger Woods titles. They had other titles too, including Dead Space, Skate, Spore, and SSX. There are, of course, a bunch of other games too.

I never said EA didn't support the Wii. They actually had quite some games, more than you named. But I said it was irrelevant. I illustrated that by pointing out the top-sellers. I should have mentioned these barely sold above 1 million. EA-games didn't sell Wiis. And on Wii EA didn't make a big profit, as their games sold bad. So EA-support was mostly irrelevant then and there is not much proof, that says it should be different this time.

Good good! Glad to see more 3rd party developers interested in the Switch!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PSN: StlUzumaki23

Naturally. System sales are good and production cost far below AAA.

Hunting Season is done...

Doesn't EA use the same game engine for its sport titles (and other titles)? If they invested with FIFA18 to port from other consoles to Switch, then other games should have an even lower cost / risk to being ported. It really becomes a no-brainer.

I can see plenty of consumers wanting to be able to play madden on the go, tiger woods with motion (was popular on wii), etc. Then there is Sims and other popular EA titles all potentially built on the same EA engine.

The only games they have that could run on Switch without spending time/resources making lower than PC low quality assets are maybe their sports stuff and their Popcap games, oh and Unravel. The Frostbite engine is a sexy yet demanding mistress, I can't see Switch handling any of their Frostbite games without a significant amount of work going into optimizing the game for Switch.

Frostbite is an engine designed originally for the PS3 and Xbox 360.  The Switch could run the engine, it's just a question of work.  And optimization of games downward these days is a heck of a lot easier than it used to be.  Especially when most of their games are, let's be real, not overburdened with mechanical complexity.  But we'll see.  It's up to them, obviously.

Is this supposed to be good news?

maybe yearly fifas now instead of the wiiu

Funny thing is that they only released one FIFA on the Wii U (13) while they continued to release the same Wii version with updated roster on Wii up till 15.

Andromeda is great.  It got a bum rap over some early bugs.

So EA-support was mostly irrelevant then and there is not much proof, that says it should be different this time.

But you did pretty much say their support was bad, your own words: Knowing EA the support will be crappy anyways..

And next time you wat to do video game number research, please do it properly. EA Sports Active, a Wii exclusive, actually did close to 4 million according to VGchartz. Q1 of 2009, they sold 1.8 million WW - official EA numbers

According to Vgchartz, the spin off title, and the sequel would both do above a million each on the Wii. In fact, not including those 3 games they would have, according to vgchartz, an additional 18 titles that woud hit a million sales.

And FYI Monopoly and Mysims didnt just barely sell above 1 million as you just claimed. MySims is at 1.65 million and Monopoly is at 1.89.

So no, you are straight up wrong, or purposely misleading facts because you dislike EA. EA supported the Wii hard and strong and got a lot of sales from doing so.

The VG-Database on VGC didn't came up with EA Sports active as I searched for publisher EA and Wii. So, they had a better selling game. But do you know why I needed the search in the first place? I remembered that EA actually did have a lot of games on Wii, but I didn't remember a single name. Not one game was memorable. So, I said the support will be crappy, because I think it was on Wii. Quantity, sure, was OK. But the quality of the games? Not one memorable game. Not much of a budget for all the games. And just look at FIFA: did EA invest some resources to make it a good port that actually plays to the strengths of the Wii? No, they were cheaping out. Hence the ridiculously low sales of FIFA on Wii. Still enough to moake money on the crappy port I'm sure, but nowhere near the sales on other platforms. If you think EA-support for Wii was substantial, then tell me, which games from EA you bought (or wanted to buy) for Wii and liked?

To show that I'm not senselessly hate EA, just compare with someone else. Ubisoft invested money to create a new game for the Wii, that should play to it's strengths: Red Steel. Sadly this didn't work out too well. Then Ubisoft invested again and invented another game: Just Dance. This paid out very well. So compare Ubisoft and EA, two companies of similar size and importance and tell me, that the investments for games on Wii wasn't crappy on EAs part compared to Ubi.

And you completely avoided my main point anyways. I said initially and stand by it: EAs support is irrelevant. Because it never worked well on Nintendo platforms. The Wii was a success, but which of the games EA made sold any Wiis? Do you think EA Sports Active made people think: yes, the Wii is a platform I want for this game. The games sold to the existing base only. On the other hand: also for EA the Wii wasn't great. They made much more money off of other platforms. Compare again to Ubi. Ubi invested more and got more back. So: EAs support for the Switch will be irrelevant again, Ubisofts support will be more impactful.

And I get it you probably like EA. And you like their games. But do you like their games on Nintendo-platforms? Probably not. So open your eyes and see: EAs support for Nintendo-platforms is crappy as they don't invest in this platforms, EAs support is also irrelevant to success (Wii) or failure (WiiU) of Nintendos platforms. And Nintendos success is mostly irrelevant for EAs revenue.

I think that means basically Madden NFL for Switch is coming this year (probably around November-ish), but I'd love to have NHL, even a version based on the game 1-2 years ago just with updated rosters. Would be great to be able to play that on long flights for me.
