Never understood refunds of digital games if you don't like the game... Its great for the consumer, but its just a bit weird.lol

Between the time NPD started tracking sales in 1995, Zelda’s total since then is at $1.4 billion. Naji also says that the franchise “is the top-selling property of all time within the Adventure super genre, selling 54 percent more revenue than the next best-selling franchise, Resident Evil.”

That's actually pretty impressive.

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

XBox One: Biggest XBox launch ever, breaks sales records for the company.
PS4: Biggest PlayStation launch ever, breaks sales records for the company.
Nintendo Switch: Biggest Nintendo launch ever, breaks sales records for the company.

In my book:

360 > XB1
PS2 > PS4
N64 > Switch.

Could this speak more about the fact that console gaming is more popular now than in the past? Other than the quality of this generation's consoles?

I have a Switch and I love it but I'm hoping it can keep this up. I'm sure it'll be a huge success--over 100 million by my expectations. It would be terribly embarrassing if they don't live up to this incredible start.

Funny that when Gamestop said this exact same thing, it was dismissively passed off by many as "bullspit PR".

It speaks for the fact that in the globalized information world sales are more frontloaded, as everyone already know about a new console, while back in the day you played it at a friend and wanted it too.

so as a switch owner, according to you, im not allowed Skyrim, or xeno 2, or yooka laylee, or snake pass, or lego city, or 1/2 switch amongst any other game that gets released. ok makes sense.

I'm not saying you're not allowed to. Just that a lot of Switch owners will have the same games by the end of 2017 because there's no variety and this will decrease sales dramatically when the hybrid-console hype is gone. There will be massive droughts. I expect (much) more from a console, even in its first year. Wii U had a much better first year line up but somehow managed to sell way less.

I just don't see why you bought a Switch for these games. You can get a better (performance-wise) and cheaper experience on any other gaming machine. Skyrim is not even the Definitive Edition and probably fullpriced. 1-2 Switch is terrible and full priced. Xenoblade 2 and Mario will be good, but not let's-buy-a-320-euro-console-for-2-good-games-in-a-whole-year good.

I will wait 2-3 years when lots of Nintendo games are released and bundled with the console at lower price, when the third-party support is once again beyond terrible.

I notice that you made sure not to even mention "Breath of the Wild" in order to maintain your "Switch will only have 2 good games this year" narrative.

By the way, you can call other console versions "Definitive Editions" if you want, but you are missing a key selling point of the Switch.  I can play all Switch games anywhere I want.  I will be able to play Skyrim anywhere I want.  And before you even try to compare Sony cross play to the Switch, I didn't have to buy a $400 console + a $250 handheld, plus have a system powered on at home at all times in order to continue playing on a handheld outside, plus be inside a stable wi-fi area while playing in order to do it.

And people still thinks its another Wii U.......................

I thought it was another 3DS because it is also a handheld.

Yeah, the Switch will only get 3 Nintendo games and a few indies this whole year. Sounds about right. And Splatoon, Mario Kart and Odyssey are also the same genre. No variety there.

You may be happy with one good game per genre per console, but those games are not for everyone. Shooter fans do not like all other games in the same genre. Splatoon 1,5 and Mario games are pretty much meant for the Nintendo gamer only.

My point being, in 1 or 2 years, you will find the exact same games at every Switch owner's house. While you will find a big variety of games at PS4/XB1 owners. This is why they are and will stay more succesful consoles if Nintendo continues with this lower power and less content approach.

Maybe the people who purchased Switch enjoy those games? Zelda is one of the best games of all time, Mario Kart battle mode is back (mostly), ARMS and Splatoon 2 both look like they're going to be really fun. End the year off with a 3D Mario game and I'd say that's plenty of big games for the first 9 months. Of course, some don't enjoy those games, but you really can't fathom the idea that some people do? Personally, I feel Switch will have the best first year of a console ever, and it will all be portable.

The potential. You are probably clouded by the fact that you think most people just care about whats in front of them, when the truth is that people are loyal to products that provide them with the certainty of fun for many years ahead.

What potential? The overall 2017 line up is embarassing. Every Switch owner will end up with the same few games (full-priced port MK8, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey). There's no variety for different types of gamers. I'm a big Nintendo fan myself but I see absolutely no reason to buy it now.

I think the hype around the concept of Switch is what made many people buy the system so early without looking at the software line-up. They are destined to be disappointed when they realize the droughts take months with a few indie-games in between which are cheaper and with better performance on the other home-consoles.

Or! Their interests are different from yours. I'm sure plenty, if not most, Switch owners will be more than happey with Zelda, Mario Kart, Splatoon 2, and Mario 3d. Not everyone cares about new ips.
