Forums - Sony Discussion - FFVII Remake Not In full Production Yet, Might Be Next-Gen (RUMOUR)

Sure. Especially if you're coaxing other publishers to come out and make them for you. That way you catch none of the flack if the product doesn't show up for a decade

You can criticise SOny all you want isf it makes you feel better about how things are going

Well it is the game industry in general.  Personally how they did it with Fallout 4 was the best for me. Show a trailer/Teaser before E3..Then weeks later at E3 show the game again with some special gameplay elements and release date in less than 6 months...

I just don't get excited for announcing games with no release dates. Doesn't really matter if it is third party or who of the big 3 is the worst.

I thought there wasn't suppose to be anymore generations. Just upgrades. So, what does this matter to the team. It still has to run on the base PS4 unit.

Sony said there will be a PS5.

MS implied they will do upgrades, but I doubt that means all games will support OG X1 hardware.

Pretty much what I expected. Square Enix has a history of announcing games years before they are actually released, so this news doesn't really affect me that much. It comes out when it does and in the meantime I have more than enough games to play.

It's stupid that they always seem to do this, but I'm not that bothered anymore since that's pretty much what I expect to happen anyway at this point.

edit: nvm

The problem is: not even S-E knows what they are doing! If this comes out this decade I will be surprised, an after 2021`s release date is not impossible, and this is just ridiculuous. We may not even see a FF XVI this gen because of this non-sense of FF VII remake.

As a fan of FF, I don't want remakes. I want new games. stuff like FF7R or even the smaller updates for PS4 of PC port, just take time away from making new games. Plus in this case with ruin the memory. In the FF series, we've had 3 (not counting the MMO) in a decade. That's just sad for one of the most successful money making series ever.

If SquEnix has sense they'd churn them out like Assassin's Creed or CoD to make money, people might get sick of them but that's better than 3 in a decade (well, 14 years if you count the wait between 10 and 12) but they aren't doing that and that doesn't look like it'll change. We are down to 1 FF game per gen now and we just have to accept that.

I actually have to defend FF MMO`s, mainly XIV for it being actually a great game. A much better FF experience than FF XIII ever was. And I believe it needs to comeback to 3 releases a generation, like it was since the NES until the PS2. I`m betting this gen won`t get FF XVI, and it won`t be because of continued support for XIV or XV DLC`s, but because of VII Remake. This thing will suck so much resources from S-E it will be hard to get other FF.

At least I hope for KH III, because skipping an entire generation and making the franchise live only through spin-offs that aren`t actually spin-offs so they could release on handelhelds having much shorter and cheaper development is something I don`t approve personally.

Easiest cashgrab. Which is why pretty much any profession does it. Movies, games, aplliances, even cars.

What I don`t understand about FF fans is this remake frenzy. Star Wars fans cringe with the idea of remakes and FF fans want it so badly that it looks like any newer entry is pretty much irrelevant. Same thing with Chrono Trigger. We don`t need a remake, we need a proper sequel to the series. FF VII is good as it is, just updating the textures and character models would have been more than enough.

The problem is: not even S-E knows what they are doing! If this comes out this decade I will be surprised, an after 2021`s release date is not impossible, and this is just ridiculuous. We may not even see a FF XVI this gen because of this non-sense of FF VII remake.

That's SE's fault of poor management. They don't want to invest in hiring more people, to complete games in a decent time frame. So they take years. Even though FF7 Remake is the most wanted thing ever. It should of been done, back on the PS3, have a large budgeted team. And rack in the huge short term investment. Then port it forever. Just like Capcom does with Resident Evil. They will keep porting the main RE games. Because they sell a million copies, all the time. They take advantage of people not holding onto hardware.

I look forward to playing a half complete game in 2027.

I thought the remake was going to be episodic? No way it's not in production yet, lol.

XV is a bad game, and now this news

SE is worse than Squaresoft

A bad game that was the best performing FF game in the last 20 years?

Sorry - that dog won't hunt. You disliking the game doesn't make it bad.

Now you mention it, this game was made in nearly 10 years and the world of this game has so many invisible walls which is nowhere near the level of The Witcher or Xenoblade

Combat is tangle, story is just terrible and short , the only good spot about this game is soundtrack was composed by a freelancer composer
