Forums - Politics Discussion - What is the Alt-Right?

In a nutshell, the Alt-Right is the Reich Wing of the Right Wing.

Around the Network

The alt-right is basically the "troll" branch of the right wing. So you don't accuse me of liberal bias, I'll leave the rest to the very conservative Ben Shapiro (its a good piece...I highly suggest giving it a read): http://www.dailywire.com/news/4396/responding-alt-right-are-they-bigots-or-just-ben-shapiro

"I believe there’s a difference between political incorrectness and bigotry, or political incorrectness and vulgarity. I have this problem with Trump, and I have this same problem with the alt right that simplistically embraces Trump because they mesh being a jackass with being politically incorrect. They’re not the same thing. It is politically incorrect to point out that black Americans commit a wildly disproportionate share of crime, or that Jews comprise an outsized percentage of successful media moguls, doctors, and lawyers. It is also politically incorrect to point out that cultural stereotypes are sometimes rooted in reality -- Milo's right about that. It is racist, however, to tweet the word “n*****” at a black person, and it is anti-Semitic to tweet a meme of a stereotypical hook-nosed Jew controlling the world or greedily collecting shekels. There is a difference between the two."

I can confirm this is more or less what it's about.

No, you say that because you don't know and you are too lazy to do research.

Alt-Right as in "alternative right". It's a counter-movement that separates itself from the modern right, which it blames for losing its own identity. The modern right has allowed itself to become infiltrated by leftist ideology (such is the power of cultural marxism!) and has left the ideology battle almost entirely, and only concerns itself with economic policies.

In short, the modern right became overwhelmed by political correctness and is now ideologically confused. The alt-right picks up the ideological battle for conservatism again.

No, I do know ...

What the hell's the difference between right and alt-right ? Most conservatives are far away from cultural marxism so that doesn't even make any sense that their ideals are being perverted ...

Most of the modern right don't even care about being PC or not ...

ya but what are their political opponents? that is what I am trying to define.

"The alt-right is a segment of right-wing ideologies presented as an alternative to mainstream conservatism in the United States.[1][2] It has been described as a movement unified by support for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump,[3][4] as well as by opposition to multiculturalism and immigration."

"The alt-right has no official ideology, although various sources have said that it is associated with white nationalism,[1][2][6] white supremacism,[3][7][8] antisemitism,[1][2][9] right-wing populism,[6] nativism,[10] and the neoreactionary movement.[7][11]"

No official ideology.

white nationalism/supremacism/antisemitism.

That says it all really right?

Alot of Donald Trumphs voters, and backers, are these really racist bunch of people.

do you actualy believe this stuff you are typing?  Or are you just throwing as much dirt as possible to see if any sticks?

people need to learn to think for themsevles, research, ask others opinions, learn critical thinking etc   Otherwise you become another mans/womans/organizations  puppet -

comments like yours are an easy identifier of a person acting as someone eles puppet-   don t be a puppet

Imo the right wing in the future will likely be nationalistic in nature, likely not very social conservative and libertarian in some regards.

I just explained to you the difference. Alt-Right is a reactionary movement caring about the ideology of conservatism. It's reactionay against the huge dominance of cultural marxism and political correctness in Western society obviously, but also reactionary towards the mainstream right wing establishment.

Most right wing parties in the West today are infiltrated by essentially Marxist ideas about equality and social justice, and very aware of political correctness and hysterically afraid of being labeled as racist, intolerant, bigot, islamophobic etc.

What country are you from where you supposedly have right wing politicans that aren't politically correct (meaning the mainstream right wing parties, not nationalist parties which are Alt-right)?

Read this article and then tell me if you still don't accept the difference:

Uh.. No. Clinton and Obama have both attacked Trump supporters to create the narrative they are "deplorable." Obama even goes overseas and mocks the people he leads, he's a garbage president.

I'm genuinely disgusted by democrats this time around. They are dividing the country.

Trump doesent have a perfect record but dems are actually pushing people away in what should have been an easy victory for Hilary.

Have you heard Trump speak?   They guy can't talk for 2 minutes without insulting, mocking, denigrading, disparaging or otherwise insinuating some negative connotation to various groups of people.  Do you know the only group he doesn't do that to?  I'll give you a few minutes to work on that.

I'm not saying he has perfect record of not offending people. Its also a matter of you interpret it, people spin everything Trump says.

Hilary however attacks people for supporting her competition.

The issue with political correctness is that it is a force of good and evil.

It is a force for Good as it tries to be mindful of other people's feelings when we say things especially to people that are different from us As a result it requires us to filter ourselves and be more mindful in what we say.

The evil side is that is also used by people who are extreme in thinking to shut down debate around issues that are dear to their hearts by throwing out labels and accusations of sexism, racism and others when someone simply disagrees with them.

The dangers of political correctness are perhaps best displayed over the issue of refugees. Most people want to help but don't want to be overwhelmed. However if anyone had any concerns over the refugee issue they were labelled a racist by the left. As a result this caused a huge backlash from far right movements.
