Do you really think they will for the 1080p angle in 2017 when 4k will be more mainstream? And do you really think MS will mandare 1080p/60fps?

Its already been reported that some games will be locked to 30 fps and that Sony decided for it not to be higher so that there is no unfair advantage. That could be true, but if you look at PC gaming.... many different people play at various framerates and qualities based on their internet speed and hardware. Either Sony is gimping the potential of the Pro or the pro just cant hit 60 fps at 1080p.Personally, I think 1080p needs to be locked at a solid 60 fps before next gen before we even think about perfecting 4k. Thats interesting and i'll probably upgrade to the Pro, but seriously, this coupled with the mods issue should basically be a relative shoo for anyone who wants to upgrade to PC. Thats the whole moral of the story. Sony wants to stop gaming enthusiasts who are falling for PC and technical prowess from jumping to PC. This is why it was so bad.

As for the 60 fps, i'm sure MS will be watching all of Sony's failures and use them to capitalize on the Scorpio. Microsoft is better at getting behind mulitplayer gaming than Sony. Strategy-wise, they need the good press after feeling like their console was lesser than Sony's. Microsoft follows Sony's every move, so a retaliation is coming and I can feel it in my bones. $600 is what I expected for the Playstation neo and was pleasantly suprised about the price. Thats all well and good, but the scorpio is most definitely going to be more in price and its no bottleneck to sales when they made it clear that only enthusiasts should buy it (therefore less will be produced like elite controllers).

The Neo is not a sell to any gamer who wants to jump to PC and neither is the scorpio. We will hear what MS has to say next year.

That's for MP only - Sony never stopped devs from makig 60fps SP games for the Pro and 30fps for the original one. PC isn't a single platform holder so of course it's not a problem there. But it would be terrible if some game had a 60fps MP for the Pro and 30fps for the original. That would be an unfair advantage and made Sony look bad and made owners angry. So, Sony did the right thing here.

If MS was looking at Sony's failures, they would be making exclusive games for the Xbox One instead on focusing on multimedia. Because that's where Sony failed.

The only reason the power gap was an issue for ps4 vs x1, was because of the price. The ps4 was cheaper by $100 and more powerfull, so yea people gravitated towards it. Even after the kinect, it was the same price but the ps4 was still more powerfull. If I had no interest in any brands games or where my friends where, I would choose the more powerfull one for the same price. its really a no brainer.

With the scorpio it wont matter, cuz it will be hard for them to match the pro in price with the rumors of better cpu and 12gb ram and uhd player 6-8tflop gpu. It all sounds like it will be at least $100 more than the pro. Then you will se splits, some want more power nd will pay anything, some dont want to spend so much so they will setle for the pro, some will still not be able to aford the pro and have to get one of the slims.

This

The problem was always value. It was more expensive and had no big distinctive traits to justify the price difference

Power was a huge factor. 1080P was the reason why MANY people chose ps4 over xbox one. The 100$ price difference obviously didn't mean much because the ps4 is still much more popular. But at this point, the ps4 has such a huge lead that it doesn't really matter. I don't think MS can do anything.

I don't know....I don't think Power was that big of a factor. I think Sony just made all the right decisions this time around. Excellent Price point, a veery well built machine, great games and took teh steam from MS messing up so badly out the gate. But power was only a huge factor to some interent folks who were basttling it out. But to the rest it was not that big of a deal in my opinion.

Power seemed to be a big factor for allot of people, especially when you took into account the PS4 was also cheaper.
Even in more casual circles it is pretty common knowledge that the Playstation 4 had the edge in performance and that likely did help to propel the Playstation 4 forward.

Sony had all the right cards at the right time, Microsoft made all the wrong mistakes, it's as simple as that, Power was a factor in that in my opinion.
Both these companies play on each others weakpoints when they appear, Microsoft is doing it currently with regards to Mods and UHD Blu Ray, it's what competition is all about.

Thing is, PS4 has japanese games I want to play- Persona, Naruto(important for me), Street Fighter, etc.

Even if Xbox Scorpio is twice as powerful, the lack of certain games bugs me.

Similar to me wanting galge that will never be localized. Seems Sony has what you want, but they ignore what people like me want...

Not to mention, Naruto games often release on the MS platforms.

As a whole, after seeing Todd Howard talking about the Scorpio, I am convinced Beth is cooking something up and you know how they like the brand and how their games sell...

Now, if the next TES game were Scorpio/XONE exclusive, they'd probably deliver a critical hit to Sony.

They are far far to reliant on the power difference being what will get gamer's to come.

Sony opened the door for Microsoft to focus on power.

microsoft is shooting itself in the foot, sonys ps4 pro is clearly current gen. with xbox scorpio the specs are greater than 360 > xbox 1 jump

i have a feeling xbox1 will be dumped as its possible by next year xbox1 will be extremly behind ps4. looks like xbox origional over again

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Its M$, they don't care about the year lead, its only forum dwellers that do apparently. They are interested in bringing their 360 core audience in full.

It's pretty hilarious seeing people dismiss the power difference now that it will the other way around.

Don't think Scorpio can do anything with that nigh 2TFLOP difference? Uhmmn...Okay.

Sales as a purchase justificator. That will make the power difference and shift of definitive multiplatform games go away somehow...

Best controllers on the market, best service and soon most powerful console on the market. It is best not to sleep on what those 3 together mean for the core market. Scorpio puts Xbox in a comfortable position for sure.

Based on what? We haven't even got any solid hardware information.

Whatever advantage the Scorpio brings, the Pro 2 will match it in the following year, and the year after the Scorpio 2 will be more powerful the Pro 2 and so on. This is where console gaming is headed, and the future speculation about power isn't nearly as important as it used to be.

The Xbox brand is diminishing and the new Pro model is looking like a success everyday, MS can wait on the sideline, wait and stare until they think they are ready. Like they did with Windows Mobile, often forgetting that the competition has plans set in motion too.

Phil can talk up his year-away-from-release product all he wants, action is all that matters in the end.

As this gen and last gen showed us, the faster you outsell your rival, the better your foothold. 360 showed us, ps4 showed us. Let's see how they can cope.
