Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pokemon Go has taken over my city, I've never seen anything like this.

When Pokemon Go came out I was really sick, I downloaded the app but didn't even launch it. Next day I had to go to a few stores so I figured while I was out to give it a go, eventhough I played it very briefly at the stores a few people asked me if I was playing Pokemon, when I replied "yeah" they said they've seen it all over facebook.

Later that night I decided to go for a walk, ended up walking over 10 miles hitting stops around town, I ended up at a library where I saw 3 trainers on the steps. This was the first time I've seen other trainers, it was cool. We talked for a bit then parted ways. Little did I know how popular the app actually was. The next day I decided to go for another walk, it was during the daytime. Right when I hit outside an older man in his 40s or 50s asked if I was catching pokemon, While walking around people would yell pokemon across the street or as they pass by in a car. I go to a hotspot near a church and a car pulls up and yells "team mystic" I walk up the street and two guys pass by me and say "Team Valor". This is insane. I keep running into trainers and doing some small talk, This is when I notice this game is huge.

Next day I make a pilgrimage to this bridge outside of my old house, I hear from people it's a busy place. I go there and there's groups of people everywhere. There's 3 pokestops right by eachother next to a creek, seems to be a popular stop. I'm amazed and scared of the amount of people playing. I head home after an hour or so to shower and get ready for work. I walk home by this area every day after I work so I figure I'll come back and it wont be as busy...

11pm (about 2 hours ago) I start walking home, I see a huge crowd from a distance. As I get closer it only gets bigger, there's literally 50+ people along this side of the street camping around these 3 stops, I feel like I'm actually in the Pokemon universe. cars are going by and every few minutes you hear someone yell a team, pokemon, or just play the theme music. Actual ambulances are going by and playing the theme song on the intercom, I'm seeing so many people I've never seen before outside at this time, I run into people I haven't seen in a long time like my ex-manager. Couples are going out catching pokemon as a date, everyone looks around 18-30 and there's actually a lot of females. The hype is real, I've never seen anything like this before in my life.

And this is only a city with around a population of 17k, I can't imagine what it's like in bigger cities. What is your city like?

Everyone occasionally has weird dreams that seem very real.
Here in the real world nothing! (not out yet)

And then they're adding trading. And then probably PVP battles. My word...

I'm seeing people playing it everywhere I go.  Gym, restaurant, grocery store, neighborhood, busy streets, you name it.  We're all having a blast and when I find something cool, I'll say, "There's a Pikachu back there by Ralph's (grocery store)" and people are like, "Wow cool.  Thanks!"  I love it.

I've yet to see it explode on my island, but then again the EU doesn't have it yet..

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

So pay up motherfuckers you belong to "V"

It's not out here yet but I can't wait for this to happen.

How often would you normally talk to strangers...

Though on the other hand I can imagine a Stephen King story in the making.

It has taken over my town as well. My town has around 50,000 people in it. There is this street over by me with a ton of decorative themed benches, including a Pokemon themed bench, and each of the benches is a pokestop. Every time I'm over there I see 100+ people walking around playing pokemon go as well as lures being everywhere on that street.

I've also taken over a few gyms in some of the most traveled parts of town and I've had people messaging me who I haven't talked to in awhile asking if it was me at those gyms.

There was also someone who was hit by a train today in my town and killed and the details haven't been released yet, but people were saying he was playing Pokemon Go. I don't know if this is true, but it's crazy to think that Pokemon Go may have killed someone in my town.

I just confirmed the hype is real. I had seen some guys posting about pokemon on facebook and a couple of minutes ago I got a text from a girl saying "hey let's go out to catch some pokemon" I was like wtf! The game is not even available in our country, she went through the whole apk thing in order to play it.

I just got back from my vacation, I left one week ago, and it doesn't feel like the same town!
Everyone is out on the streets with their phones playing Pokemon GO, even most of my friends who haven't played a Nintendo system in years and who's gaming goes as far as Call of Duty, FIFA, Madden, and NBA 2K, are obsessed with GO.
It's a phenomenon, no other way around it!

Seriously! Whether its on Social Media/ The Internet or in the Real world, hy ou can't avoid the HYPE of Pokemon Go! And the content of it looks very small so far. Imagine more content being added on it!!!!

Pocky Lover Boy!
