You can update it. and the life time is not bound to 5 years cycle any longer. Nintendo is doing an upgradable console or Nintendo eXPandable .

I though you would have seen it by now.

The biggest advantage is you dont lose all your old stuff, when you do upgrade.

Basically you can always play the games you bought before, reguardless of what kinda upgrade over the last hardware you picked.

 

Another reason why them going x86 is smart.

As long as they stick to that with consoles, I dont see why consoles couldnt be like that too.

Thats what the PS4 Neo is, and the Xbox One (1.1) is.

More powerfull hardware, still runs same games, just better.

Guys you're awsome, pretty cool & funny names ;) I think "N" comes from Nintendo and "X"? Experience? don't know, i think the rumor of two consoles in one (handle & desktop console) would be the "X".

Seriously, though, I think they should consider simplifying. Kind of like how "Wii" was the entire name of the system. Something that can stand on its own, is not easily confused ("playbox, gamestation, xcube, etc"), and gets some attention.
