There was some innocent crushing going on in Spirit Tracks though.

OT Nintendo, would probably want to keep the romance between the two low key. Would be really interesting if they have a model for a male Zelda though to keep the romance possible. And if this is a reboot of Zelda 1 or alternative time branch then maybe all the main characters have gender swap so romantic relationship between Link and Zelda in any gender timeline can work. 

Does anyone else wish that they would flesh Link out more as a character?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big LoZ fan, and I'm really enjoying TP:HD, but I always felt Link was sort of a flat character.

Hmm, it could happen, or they could just be close friends, or see each others as sisters or something. They probably wouldn't do a love relation sort of thing, or just not do the romance at all in this title...

Considering this is fiction, I don't see why that's a problem. They've been given romantic teases as far back as the ending of Zelda II on the NES, and the assumption is that that common boy saved the entire kingdom to begin with.

They might not be teased as romantic in every game, but the bond between Link and Zelda is generally a commonality. This is taken back further based on Skyward Sword manga prologue, which confirms their relationship extends as far back as the ancient war, in which Zelda and Link were confirmed to be reincarnations of the goddess and her chosen hero. They've been linked across time ever since, regardless of the peerage they have in each time period.

Yeah, they were basically a couple by the end of that one. There was some teasing at the end of the Oracle games too as I recall.

Yes. But only in the Japanese version. They will then censor the female parts of Link and give her a penis and a male voice as to not offend the westeners.

Also no boob slider at character creation.

Keep romantic stuff away from Zelda, I used wish for Nitendo to include more story and romance in Zelda games, along came SS and man it was really awful. 

Could this female playable character be Zelda and not Female Link?
