Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your Avatar in Video Games: What Do You Name Them???

When I was a kid it was always "asshole" "shitface" fuckyou" or "hardboner".

If it's a male, depending on the game I would put "Alex", since my actual name is pretty long and most games (Especially old RPGs) don't have enough blank spaces for it.

If it's a female, I would just pick a random one.

However, in games like Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger, I prefer to keep the characters original name.

Also, am I the only one that finds weird how in some games like Skyrim, you can choose your protagonist's name, but no one actually calls you by your name?

Funny, I do the same for Chrono Trigger. Their names are way too awesome already xD

Also, I think the same thing happens in Undertale, but I can't say more on it.. : X

Whatever they are supposed to be. Most recent example Xeno X I named my character Cross. Suikoden I named my guy Tir McDohl, Suikoden II I named my guy Hiro.

Wait, so it the MC in Suikoden named Tir McDohl? o_o

I like to give every character a new name that I decide on in the moment. I feel like I need to see what the character looks like before naming it. I don't have any go to names.

Well, besides for Zelda. I only played Windwaker so far but will continue to name him "Link" because that's who he's supposed to be...right?

Lol, sounds like me naming pokemon in Nuzlocke challenges xD I just make sounds with my mouth until a name comes out.

And I usually keep link's name the same too... : X

Haha, those are funny names, esepcially when NPCs say it so casually in conversation xD

If its something private, I just do my initials (old habits die hard). If it is something public (online game), I tend to go with "sundin" or "sundin13".

However, lately, I've been trying to RP a little more with my characters. I named my Pokemon X character "Ennis" and dressed her up like Ennis from Baccano! and had a ton of fun, so I'm probably switching to that route now.

Oh, that's an interesting name. It almost sounds like one made up by the player,,,

these days i just leave the default name to lazy to change it lol.

Since I greatly lack creativity when it comes to naming I just use my own name, Lyra. Although if I play as a boy I use Ben or Kevin (one being my dad's name the other being the name of the first characteri made), and I've sometimes used Wheeler too.

Nowadays I just write my own name on the avatar, I feel like it immerses me more in the game. Sometimes my name doesn't fit(since it's 8 letters) and if that happens I use one of my nicknames then.
