You ever see how long it takes to instant transmission someone?  Goku smells his finger for like five seconds (for that delicious Chi Chi poon tang?).  Five seconds is a long time.  Meanwhile if he does teleport to a red sun..... do you realize how goddam hot a sun is?  Goku would commit suicide!

1: That's assuning he can even grab him. Superman is far faster. And where does he find a red sun? He's probably not smart enough to know what a red star even is.

2: Superman's power doesn't immediately disappear when he goes to a red star. He just doesn't get any stronger. Think of him like a battery. Does a battery immediately depower when you remove it from it's charging station? No.

The person thing is when he is tracking someone's engery and uses it to transmt to where that energy signature is.
