well Im getting it day 1 ico and sotc are my fav ps2 games
I'm sorry but you think TLG looked "pretty impressive"....how?
Personally, I think we need to see more gameplay before we see how this game will be like. The fact it hasn't shown us combat (meaning there probably isn't any) and that the graphics shown aren't much better than the 2009 demo isn't impressing me. And the fact people are WAY overhyping this game to the limits, meaning they're probably just trying to make themselves disappointed at launch. I'm not saying its going to be a bad game, I'm just saying we need to see more before we can actually tell which audience this will cater to, and to see what to expect from this game.

Well to be perfectly fair I highly doubt there will be too much combat in the game. It is first and foremost a puzzle platformer, and I do not think that too much light will be shone on the combat unless the it is incorporated into the puzzle somehow (RE: Ico's shadow fights). You are right that it is getting a lot of attention for what it is; coming from a studio that creates minimilistic, artful games that do not have as much widespread appeal as other games would. It will cater to the same audience that the other's did; myself included in that group.

I don't think anyone forgot about it or stopped caring, at least, not those who cared about it in the first place.
That seems like quite the feat to accomplish.
I think TLG sales will still do very well.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I suppose that can only be answerd if you have played the games. Ico and SotC are both very unique experiences. While there have been similar games to Ico, I dont think any game blends the elements of both these games, hence their uniqueness. Another very powerful draw of Team Ico games is lore. Ico and SotC are not connected directly, but the deeper you look into what happens in the story (as minimalistic as they can be) and the actual enviornment ques, you realise that in just 2 very self-contained games, that a much larger world exists. I would say that plays a large appeal in Team Ico's games, much like how the MGS universe is expanded (albeit for different reasons). ppl want to see how the lore expands, and how the game fits in with wit both Ico and SotC (even though everyone knows there will be nothing concrete) And, TLG looks like the algamation of both Ico and SoTC in terms of gameplay. I doubt it will have mainstream appeal but that really depends on the marketting campaign for it. |
Haha, it does sound like I would need to play the previous games to get why people are looking forward to TLG. I guess I`ll need to get around to playing those some time.
Dance my pretties!

It would be a sad thing because the whole line of Ico games are in the Smithsonian as works of art. If a third were to be added then it just goes to show that sometimes you just have to give the people more guns and less creativity.
I think I'm going to give every Sony Game thread I post a sub title from now on:
'Insert Sony title' (The downplay thread).
