Forums - Gaming Discussion - By its 1 year anniversary, Destiny will have $80~$100 worth of DLC. Is this ok?

Its not ok at all but they wouldn't keep releasing new DLC if it wasn't selling, so clearly there's still demand for it.

Destiny

$60

Thats only if you start right now.

If you started playing when it launched the base game is $60, then the expansions combined are $80 ($75 if you bought the 'pass'), then $20 if you want the emotes.  So yeah it definitely has $80 - $100 worth of DLC if you started playing from the beginning.

Doesn't Destiny gets expansions though? Added content that could very well fill a full-fledged sequel? If that's the case, I see no problem. Something like FFXIV will also have people spend a lot of money on "DLC" throughout the years, for example.

I totally get your point, being a MMO player myself, but even than we would be talking about 3 XTs in one year.

MMORPGs normally get only one per year, such as FF14 and WoW, or less than that.

Not bad at all. if you dont want the DLC then dont buy it. You got what you paid for by the base game. The DLC is there for those whowant to play more? Do you wish bungie would abandon the game entirely? Or do feel entitled that they should give it to you for free?

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

I need to spend $40 to upgrade to TTK.

Every game has that... if you started to buy DLC you will spend over $100 easily.

Is this a joke? It has to be a joke, right?

I'm now filled with determination.

Nope. It should either all have been shipped on disc, or created as a way to get people to BUY said disc, and given away for free.

It's a poke in the eye of people who bought the game at launch, but for people who are patient they will get all the goodies for basically the launch price. So what has Bungie and Activision done? trained people not to buy theur next game day 1 but wait for a year to get everything for one low-ish price.

Nof in the slightest Vkaraujo-San. If anything, should people continually support this, said concept of pricing DLC to a degree could potentially entice other publishers to follow suit; a potent massive issue if this should happen. Hopefully this doesn't come to pass, but if ideas in the Season Pass can spread rapidly and consumers support such concepts, I personally do not see any reason why higher DLC prices can become a commodity.

Hell no. But dude bros mainly buy this game and they have no fucking clue what's going on in the industry so it can't be helped.
