Forums - Gaming - By its 1 year anniversary, Destiny will have $80~$100 worth of DLC. Is this ok?

I don't even play the game, so I guess you can take my opinion with a grain of salt. But I am going to go with an emphatic NO.

I have absolutely no interest in supporting games, developers, or publishers that want to try and pull this crap. To me, this is a disgusting business model designed to do nothing more than to bleed gamers dry. What are fans of this game supposed to do? Just not upgrade? Just sit there and watch the internet talk about all the stuff they are missing? Just replay the old stuff over and over again while they know new content is right there? It has got to be like an addict trying to break their habit. I kind of feel sorry for them. I know I wouldn't be able to shake the feeling that I had an incomplete game.

I mean, $60 + $20 + $20 + $40 = $140 if you were playing from the beginning? Fuck me. And two-thirds of the cost of the game for the latest DLC? Well, fuck whomever decided that was acceptable. Can you imagine if they released this all at once and tried to charge $140 for it? We would all laugh in their face, and rightfully so. Plus, all this DLC has no resale value. You know the publishers love that.

I reeeally hope this does not catch on with more games. Give me a complete game please. Transaction over. No nickle-and-diming me. I get that enough other places in real life. Please not in my gaming too. I know some DLC is inevitable at this point, but please keep it reasonable. Maybe $5 or $10? Or maybe at least not more than one-third of the original cost of the game? If you really have so many new ideas, just hit me with the fucking sequel already. I would gladly rather have that.

The game was marketed as tripple AAA and still costs that much. If they want to do that then make the base game for free or give a free edition. They devoloped their game like an MMO but demand AAA prices its rediclous. The game was also heavily downgraded

No, especially when you consider that half or over half of that is coming from the cost of one pack that isn't large enough to warrant that kind of money.

Not at all. And especially not for Xbox One owners that are paying the same price for even less content.

Yes, bungie is completely within reason to do so.

Everyone is overreacting. Had destiny packaged that dlc into destiny 2 no one would care, so why does it matter if they are selling it in dlc expansions instead of a retail game. You still get what you paid for, and if you don't want it, don't buy it. Simple.

And it's laughable to think that bungie should release some of the dlc or base game for free. If they work hard for something, let them charge for it.

Also, people should realize that destiny works like a small mmo, releasing small expansions for those interested

this is wrong. too bad that they will be sorted as revolutionary genious publishers :( .
i dont want to sound like a nintender,Xboxer or a pc nerd but i hated how sony used the used games No drm dillema as a weapon and their biggest game which is destiny is an online only game.

I don't think it's OK even remotely, and that's why I never buy map pack DLCs for games. Because here they are basically selling you some maps and cosmetics for $80 total (sure, there are some "story" missions, but the story is so poor that they end up irrelevant).

But, as these practices get more and more frequent, it is obvious that a decent percentage of people pay for DLCs, and especially prepay season passes, and the practice is not going away soon.

All I can do is not buy them myself, and bitch on the forums in hope to change someone else's mind.

Anything's okay as long as there's full disclosure on both ends.

Not as bad as their Skylanders franchise.
