In addition to simplicity, it's matter of pricing also. Since early 80s you always had a choice to go with computers for gaming and have wider variety of genres, at the cost of complexity and slow loading (in C64/ZX era with tapes, in Amiga/Atari ST era with slow floppies) at much higher price.

I have the same card, and I can't quite tell if it makes any game look better than their PS4 counterpart.

I find that the differences are largely exagerrated.

At the very least games run better than on PS4 with the same settings. I find the performance difference more appealing as a PC gamer than any graphical difference. 

I don't care too much about graphics and I don't always need the latest video cards to push my pixels as high as possible, but I still do enjoy PC gaming. There are just experiences on the PC that work better in that environment compared to a console environment. Right now, I'm enjoying CS: GO on my PC. It isn't the most graphically intensive game but it sure is a lot of fun once you get into it. CS: GO on the consoles died out relatively quickly but it is bigger on PC than ever.

I really like the open platform on the PC as well. You can enjoy multiple sales across different PC oriented platforms rather than relying on one digital store. You can try out mods to change up your games too.

There will always be people who claim their platform of choice is better for a variety of reasons. Ultimately, we can only choose what best fits our tastes and needs rather than putting down other's for their's.

Anyone who acts as though graphical prowess is the end-all, be-all of PC gaming is usually a console-only gamer who has no real clue what they're talking about and actually believes "PC Master Race" was a serious thing.

This week, I've spent a good amount of time gaming on both a home console and a PC. My PC is several years old and I'm perfectly fine with playing on "medium". There are some genres and types of games I prefer on a home console and some I prefer on a PC. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT REALITY. I'm not sure why ANYONE has push one side over the other as being the absolute best experience in all things.

PC gaming isn't going anywhere.

Yeah, some games are going to be better on consoles. Some console games will never come to PC. You know what, though? There are a ton of fantastic games on PC, more than I can play, and there are still games and genres that I will only play on PC. That's not changing at all.

PC Gaming is going to overtake console sales in 2016.. So.. Its the opposite. which was a "Master Race" is now becoming for "everyone".. I think VR is going to help push that even more. The best VR experiences will be on PC.. Not on console.. More PC's are sold in 1 year.. then 3 consoles sell in a whole generation(6-8 years).. CPU/GPU combos are becoming cheaper and more powerful.. Making even CHEAP PC/Tablets able to GAME..

As of right now.. it seem the future of GAMING is shifting WAY more to PC.. then console.. (besides mobile causaul gaming).

I never got this elitist Master Race attitude, and I believe some PC users takes it farther away than a joke. I just went to a Batman Arkham Knight PS4/XB1/PC comparison video and this guy commented on how he asked Steam for a refund for the game since he's running a GTX 980 and a i7 4790, which I guess, is enough to run games pretty well. I'm not saying all the PC gamers are like this, but never got this "my rig will only play flawless games since jittery games are unacceptable" behavior when he can just wait a few days for a proper patch to fix it.

Sometimes I have those thoughts - I don't care much about graphics, consoles are a bit more convenient, I can hunt for trophies, etc. - but then I remember, for example, how glorious is Mirror's Edge or XCOM on max compared to the PS360 version, and I do use mods and play PC exclusives, and emulate older consoles, and do a sh!tton of other things that consoles can't do.

I believe that while Pc may be the best platform to play games on, it is not the most accessible, nor is it as portable, or as playable with friends. It is also more expensive, they crash more often, and they look a lot nerdier, plain and simple. If i had more time and money I would play on a super gaming computer, but otherwise, consoles make it easier, more casual, and all my friends have consoles, not one plays on a computer.

I recently got a new MSI motherboard and a new graphics card. About 300 altogether. And then my CPU died and I had to get a new one. For me its fine, but for the average consumer, its too much money and too much effort get graphics that aren't miles ahead of consoles.

But the number one road block is the fact that you are on your own if something goes wrong. I can't tell you how many times I have had a game from steam... installed it and go to play but it throws an error. Every PC game comes with an array of fixes for crashes, bugs and whatnot. Consoles are much much simpler and cheaper.
