Except for the fact that Castlevania / Igarashi's legacy is really, really strong on the Nintendo brand. With the exception of the exquisite Symphony of the Night, really all the truly great 2D Castlevania games have all been on Nintendo platforms. Really ask yourself, what kind of gamer really, really likes 2D metroidvanias? Obviously, Nintendo fans fall in that camp.

Going where you know your fans are should always be a top priority.

And besides, we know it's the choice of Unreal Engine 4 for this project that really split this from the WiiU/3DS in the first place.

Here's the thing, while Castlevania did start on Nintendo home consoles it has not been on one since the apparently horrible Castlevania Judgement, instead they have all been on their handhelds. And I'm sorry but every Nintendo handheld has just as much (if not more) ownership overlap with non-Nintendo home consoles as it has with Nintendo home consoles.

So if someone had said that the 3DS should have been a priority, since after all the majority of Castlevania titles in the last 15 years or so had been on Nintendo handhelds, then I would have agreed. But on the Wii U? Not really. Lowest installbase and a hardware architecture that apparently makes porting to the machine a bigger chore than with all the other systems, really doesn't scream first priority to me.

And looking at the Kickstarter I'd say that they did go where the fans are, cause I'm pretty sure that it's not 1000s of Wii U only owners that made those donations in the hope of there being a Wii U stretch goal at the bottom.

GOSH, so much fail on a post. stupid baseless claim about nintendo handhelds overlap, saying wii u shouldn't be a priority... PATHETIC.

"And looking at the Kickstarter I'd say that they did go where the fans are, cause I'm pretty sure that it's not 1000s of Wii U only owners that made those donations in the hope of there being a Wii U stretch goal at the bottom."

DUHHHH. Were you expecting wii u only users to donate for a game without a wii u port stretch goal? why did you make such a retarded statement.

Here's a FACT: from the stretch goal, the supposed wii u version would cost 250k. and since wii u as an extra platform is top priority (regardless of what the devs did), there's absolutely no reason why a wii u port wasn't one of the first stretch goals. and look at all the minor or outright useless crap that was before:

100k for hardcover artbook + 150k for cheat codes = two goals that add nothing to the game and cost the same as the wii u port.

250k for a single boss + 250k for a boss rush mode + 250k for a speed run mode = three goals too expensive for what they are, that don't add much to the game and each cost the same as a wii u port.

A bunch of goals that add something good to the game but still shouldn't take priority over a wii u port.

And in the end you keep being a hater and disagreeing with all the absolute logic above.

If they have Wii U's and only want it on that platform, then they can feel free to punish him if they choose to, that's their right though, they aren't obligated to please this man. They don't have to support something just because of who someone is. Thats the way I see it.

Personally I won't back the project unless a physical version of the game is announced for Wii U. But if it doesn't get a physical release then I'll get this game down the line when there's an eshop/psn/xbl sale for it because I'll definitely want to give it a go if it ends up quality

lord knows were in need of a quality vania game lol

Fair enough. Wii U owners aren't obligated to please Igarashi. But, by the same token, Igarashi isn't obligated to please Wii U owners.

He doesn't have to please ps4/x1/pc users either, but if he wants money, he should. And pleasing wii u owners is as comercially important as pleasing the other userbases.

That's all fine and all and I agree for the most part but I ask why would someone donate to a kickstarter ''just because'' if the console of their choice is not currently listed? that wouldnt be very beneficia to that personl. I know I'd never do that personally.

That's perfectly fair.

To be clear, I'm not suggesting people should throw their money at a game they could never play. But I would imagine many Wii U owners have either a PC, PS4, or Xbox One. What I'm saying is that fans shouldn't punish Igarashi just because he ignored Nintendo platforms.

Yes, they should. Even if it takes a different version because of UE4, a wii u version remains as comercially viable as the others. making a wii u port the last stretch goal at the 3m mark is even more disrespectfull, as it should be in the top 5 stretch goals.

Well, when they reveal a Wii U version, I will throw down cash too o:

you should make a petetion and demand it along ps3 and xbox 360 version maybe. Its U4 which is not supported on the Wii U. by 4 million i think he could do 2 different versions

I've never really been fond of making petitions on the net, and I don't think I know any instances where that has worked. So I don't think I will do something like that... I  will try other means to get to the practically confirmed stretch goal.

people need to stop complaining about the WiiU version. They already stated that the decision was made to make a single engine for the game and to put all they could into that version. Having to make a 2nd version specifically for only 1 console (the original is for 3) does indeed take resources away from what they want to achieve.

Some of you guys can act all you want, and I personally feel that you shouldn't donate to a game that has not been confirmed on a platform you can (or would prefer) to play it on, but at least be glad its the 2nd goal in the basement segment: it could easily be lower down the list.

It should have been among the top goals.

I might pledge. Not sure because I just already pledged to Little Devil Inside which looks absolutely amazing.

I hope both games manage to reach their respective Wii U stretch goals!

I hadn't heard about this game. It looks fantastic!

And it seems like the Wii U version is pretty much sure to happen. Only 11k left to go. Surely 3 days is enough!

I hope so!

It's not exactly going fast now, but I expect that as we're nearing it's end some last day backers show up to help it reach that line. I think this often happens with Kickstarters. I might do the same if Bloodstained ends up close to it's Wii U stretch goal during the end of the campaign.
