Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Sakurai calls DLCs these days a scam

Aren't they selling Mii costumes for SSB4? If yes, shouldn't Sakurai shut up?

Depends if this is a thing he wanted to implement that way or got forced to do so by Nintendo.

Also, the costumes are comparatively cheap and they only came out about half a year after release of the game, so at least it's no day one dlc content cut from the game.

4$ for a single fighter is too much imo, I'll wait to see if Nintendo maybe bundles them together or for a sale on the eShop. I wished they would have come with some theme pack (fighter, that fighter's own stage, special trophies related to the character and whatever else could be coming with it's theme), as then the price would be justified, but not like that. Still, it's better than some other examples of character DLC, but that doesn't make it's price any less bad.

Indeed, Mario Kart did DLC right though, but four euro-dollar for one rebooted character is way to much if you ask me. Let´s not even speak about freaking costumes, they are no better than Dead or alive running this course.

Every company that is proud of their own DLC because its basically an expansion pack should call it downloadable expansion pack and they should trademark that thing (or whatever they need to do to safe this from being abused) so noone can sell dick armor for sexgames and call it downloadable expansion pack

DLC should become something bad in the eyes all people

honestly, Lucas should just be a color swap of Ness. Kinda like that one guy for olimar.

So would it be one of the most complete fighters to come from a AAA developer.

Tobal 2 on ps1 had 200, king of fighters unlimited 2002 has over 60, dragonball z budokai tenkaichi 3 over 100,
naruto ckash of ninja has over 60, street fighter 3: 3rd strike has 58, super street fighter iv arcade edition has 78, arcana heart 3 has 529 potential combinations of char + spirit god, tekken tag 2 has 59.

I could go on, but you get the point.

Though Lucas isn't that much of a clone. Aside from a few B moves, Lucas is quite different from Ness.

Worth is relative. You might not think its worth $60, but others clearly do. For example I don't this Smash Bros Wii U is worth $60, no matter how many fighters it comes with. It's 100% subjective.

Not sure if your using it as an example only, but if not how come you dont think this game is worth $60? (or $40 for the fact of SSB 3DS :)

---

Because I don't enjoy playing it. Period. Why would I pay $60  or $40 for something I don't enjoy? Can you not imagine why people might not be willing to pay $40-$60 for something? It isn't worth $60 to me. In the meantime I'd be more than willing to pay much more than $60 for Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain, but you'd probably think that's lunacy.

It's all a matter of preferance.

Also, the amount of Nintendo apologists in the thread is astounding. 90% of this thread of "DLC is awful, and horrible, and ruining the industry. Ohh wait - Nitendo does it too! DLC is still awful,  except when Nintendo does it! They do it right in every instance! Value!"

It's pathetic. Look here folks. The value of DLC is relative to those who want the content of said DLC. Period. You might think Activision are scam artists for charging $15 for a few maps, but their sales say otherwise. If it wasn't worth $15, no one would buy it! There are people that would happily pay more than that for the experience they get from it, because they see value in that. They are not wrong by thinking that way any more than you are for paying $12-$15 for little plastic figures with an NFC tag in them that quite literally cost less than $2 to manufacture, package, and ship to your door.

Don't pretend almost all of you defending Nintendo don't have at least a half a dozen amiibos. It's no different, no matter how much cognitive dissonance in your head tells you otherwise.

Well the other people dlc is bad, mine is good...

Never felt the need to buy dlc, Just played the ones in platinum collections. Also never felt burned by lack of content, so it's up to the customer if he want to pay or not.

After doing a game with 54 fighters on it lol

Killer instinct on xbox one only had 8 fighters at launch lol. The upcoming season two DLC has as many characters as the original game so they sold half a game on launch day.
