Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo engineer lists next-gen, unannounced consoles on LinkedIn profile

Lu Yang, a principal test engineer at Nintendo, has listed “next generation (unannounced) consoles” on his LinkedIn profile. For what it’s worth, Yang previously worked at Microsoft and spent a few years as a software development engineer for Windows Phones.

Here’s the full blurb:

Nintendo
February 2014 – Present (1 year 3 months)Redmond
Platform Tools for current (Wii U) and next generation (unannounced) consoles.

Obviously we know that NX is on the way, so perhaps what’s listed on Yang’s profile isn’t too surprising. We’ll be hearing more about that system next year!

Exactly. That's good to know, though it seems that by announcing they are already working on their next console they're giving the impression that it will be released soon...or at least that's some people's interpretation.

Consoles? Plural?

Yep!Why,did you expect one hybrid?

What I forgot to say is that people who planned to buy a Wii U or a 3DS in the near future should hold off now, because the system that you were about to buy will get abandoned soon.

This might anger current Wii U owners. Longevity is expected from console makers. I wont be surprised if PS3 and Xbox 360 are still supported by the time NX launches.

I still don't expect any hybrid...

Yeah,so why are you surprised by the plural then?:P

It's not non info. No employees from other manufaturers are posting this sort of info anywhere. The fact that Nintendo is implies that it's coming sooner rather than later. No sane worker is going to post hardware on their Linkedin profile that won't come into fruition in the near future., which is why you don't see Sony or Microsoft workers crediting their work on the unannounced PS5/XB2.

Looks like the Wii U is about to be replaced. Maybe as soon as spring 2016.

Nah. Winter. No way a successor is coming out without an E3 presentation, and no way that's happening this year.

Doesn't matter. They'll all buy the next system anyway.

I expect NX to be a handheld. If it is plural then that would imply they are working on something else (a home console) at the same time as NX.

I've always said that the NX was both, so it fits perfectly with my expectation. One handheld, one console, one OS, one platform, two NX systems.
