I did find this, 1080p/42" for $400 AUD, but I'm a little suspicious of low quality since its competitors of the same size and resolution all seem to be priced higher...

Do yourself a favor and DONT BUY THAT CRAP.

Yeah I did some digging and apparently Soniq are cheap for a reason, it's off the list. Thanks for the warning.

Samsung, Sony, LG. They make the best TVs right now. If you find one of those at a screen size and price you like you will not be disappointed.

I've got a Sony KDL-32W705, it has around 14-15ms input lag (measured, not manufacturer's data) and is synchronous with the Wii U GamePad. Full 4:4:4 in game mode is important, too.

And it's nice that the TV is pretty small due to the small borders.

Here's a review: https://www.avforums.com/review/sony-w706-w705-kdl-32w706-led-lcd-tv-full-hd-television-review.10458
The 706 is the same model in silver as far as I know.

That is an excellent TV for gaming.

If you want something with a lot of pizazz, you've got the LG 650V (decent but now awesome input lag with the right settings), but for a TV's TV that's probably got everything you really need (except if you like 3D), the Sony could be the one for you.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-50W805B

I test drove the KDL- 50W800B (United States) for three days. Excellent set. But instead, I had it returned and opted for the KDL-60W630B. Of course being larger, it was more expensive than the KDL-50W800B but cheaper that the 55 inch version because the 630 series doesn't have 3D. Still, excellent set. But for the OP in regards to input lag, Sony makes the best televisions because of their focus on gaming. I hope you can find a Sony that fits your budget.

LG would be the best bet. Samsung are getting too gimmicky and I would avoid Sony for lack of reliability.

Yeah, the trinity of TV goodness, not much reason to buy anything else.

And steer away from gimmicks; active 3D is prety much useless since there is very little proper support for it and curved screens are BS and only serve to ruin the viewing angle and warp the picture ratio, it is semi-useful at ridiculous screen sizes (65-70" plus) but still not worth the extra premium.

For 600$, you'll be able to find a terrific TV, no problem.

Lack of reliability and Sony dont go together.

Samsung are always very good with appliances and TV's. They last for long too.

Samsung and Pansonic do good bang for your buck.

LG is probably the best,
