The dedicated one is key here. Many may be inclined to buy the system for Bloodborne or Bloodborne combined with other games does the trick. A game with big following but not so dedicated may not have the same impact.

If it wasn for Sony giving tips to From Software Demon Souls would never have been Demon Souls. They didnt want From Software to collaborate with them and make another Kings field last I checked. Without working with Sony there would never been a souls and Sony pushed them to change it up again with this game. People don't understand just how influential Sony's work is with From Software. They think its just them.

It is a system selling. There are millions of Souls fans and they are the type of fanbase to buy a console just for the game. Yes it is not going to go out and sell 10 million copies like Halo or something.

To me the biggest system sellers are Zelda, Halo, Gran Tourismo (Europe mostly), Final Fantasy, Smash, and GTA. Those are the types of games people will just buy a console to play it. Then there are other series like AC, COD, Battlefield, TLOU, Uncharted, Mario Platformers, Mario Kart, Madden, FIFA, Forza ect that do sell alot consoles but it is more of a cumulative effect of all the multiplats (or cumlative effect with other exclusives),  but might not move consoles just in themselves.

Bloodborne compares more to the 1st group expect on a much smaller scale.

The souls fanbase is pretty dedicated and much more likely to buy a console just for this game than most other fanbases, so I'd say yes. It's going to sell a lot of systems relative to how many copies of the game are actually sold.

I remember Nintendo fans(including myself) saying this back in 96. About FF 7.

Things like- People only played FF because it was on a Nintendo console, it wont sell without the Nintendo brand behind it, this type of game is niche in the west it will only affect Japan.

It not a perfect comparison. But many of the biggest system sellers of all time were not expected to have the impact they did. FF7, GTA3, MGS, WiiSports, Mario Kart(SNES), Sonic, SF2, Goldeneye, COD4, Halo 1, Super Mario Bros, Super Smash Bros... all of those had differing degrees of hype with them at launch but they all have one thing in common.... NO ONE realistically predicted how big they were going to be and the impact they would have. When they launched they just struck a cord with gamers and went on to legendary status all of them redefined expectations of what people thought was possible from their genre.

I am not saying BB will redefine what we expect from A-RPGs or games that are more difficult than people think a huge game can be. But I certainly see the possibility. Every Gen has its defining games, I see no reason BB cannot be one of them. As gamers we should all want it to do well as it does so many things that most AAA devs would dare to do these days.

You're wrong....a good number of people who bought PS4's already were mainly due to bloodborne, like myself, and 2 of my friends. Anecdotal yes but FROM has dedicated and a good size fanbase, the games are fantastic. The game will also sell well in japan, not just western markets.

So what you're saing is that Bloodborne is selling gift cards, and copies of FF Type-0 and Metro?

Of course it will be a system seller, even more system seller than TO86 thanks to Japan. Anyone that says the contrary has been sleeping all this time and not looking at the charts every time a new aaa game is released on ps4.
