Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo's AC Adapter Policy Isn't Fair - Kotaku

Well the price point of the console itself would be £20 more expensive if they included the charger, so i dont see what you are moaning about?

They are doing it to give you options, rather than tying you in to having to get that specific charger. It gives you the option to save a little bit of dolla

That's only the price if you purchase the XL charging cradle with it.  The AC Adapter it self doesn't cost that much.

Wow. I've never seen so many whiney bitches in one place! This really isn't as big of a deal as this site and other sites are making it seem.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

It's not as if you cannot buy an adapter for the unit...it's available at retail where you buy the handheld.  But it's nice that rather than the unit retailing for 210. and coming with an adapter that I already have two of, it comes without and is 199.

The move makes sense with the millions and millions of units already in the wild and I seriously don't think its worth griping over.

Have been using 3rd party chargers on all my DS's for years and never had a single problem. Nothing would happen.

You are cluching at straws to keep hating them for this

I'm just telling you what the risk could be. I'm not hating on anything, i'm just stating the truth, which is why I also mentioned that if god forbid anything happened due to that charger it is very unlikely that Nintendo could link it to that, unless of course you actually went ahead and actually told them. Nothing I mentioned thus far is false.

Don't like it, ignore it. I would say something if Apple or anyone else with propietary accessories failed to include them too, and i'm a BIG iPhone fan.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

it looks like the wii u gamepad adaptor

1000 times this.
Always go for the original product if you can, even if it's 10 times more expensive.

risking a defective console/handheld would be the least of your concerns. 3rd party chargers, batteries etc. are much more prone to break, which can cause electrocution and/or fire.

Imagine if Xbox consoles were sold without the power supply and you have to buy them separatedly. :P

Not an equivalent comparison. It would be equivalent if the 3DS simply didn't come with a battery.

Well, that's exactly the same case. Xbox without a battery. 3DS without a battery. Neither works.

You could say 3DS lasts longer because it already has some battery life on it when you purchase it, but it will eventually run out, and it will be a great brick to have at your house unless you went and get an adapter. Same thing, you'll have to go to the store, grab a power supply if you don't have one already and then come back so that finally the console works.

Why is picking up a charger from the store you are buying the New 3DS from such a big deal?!

This is being blown way out of proportion

I guess you're new to Video gaming ;)

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Its like selling you a console without HMDI or any tv adapter for that matter. Obviously not the end of world seeing as you can pick them up everwhere but an unwanted inconvenience especially for the uniformed lot bound to go home and be like.... wait!? I'm missing something. Its not like the3DS doesn't already have fair profit margins.
