It's already $20 less than normal Wii U titles, that's a lot.

The games length seems to be totally fine, there's many games of that length nowadays.

Since when Wii U titles cost 60$? Ain't they more around 50$ generally?

No most of the major exclusives are 60. Mario Kart 8, Smash, Hyrule Warriors, 3D world.

Wow that means that Nintendo actually takes the value difference between $ and € into account, as in Europe their games generally cost only 50€ or less, while PS4/Xbox ONE games normally cost 70€ at launch

This is true, in Spain i see WiiU games at 50€ and ps4 games at 70 € all the time.

Hmm interesting, never realized that. That's very considerate of them, really.

I think the length is fine. $40 is well worth the time I've put into the game so far. I could see them continuing to add more books as well in the form of $5-10 dlc. I think it makes more sense to make it its own game for a few reasons...one, the game drought. Two, it really helps to establish Toad and Toadette as their own stand alone characters, capable of headlining their own titles. Three, it really helped Nintendo put resources behind this game. Don't be surprised to see a few of the elements introduced in this title get reworked in the next mainline 3D Mario title...particularly the world spinning/flipping.

I hope you're right about there being new books for 5-10 bucks, I'd buy em as long as there are some much bigger levels in there as well.

I agree with OP. Nintendo made this game as a filler game to make quick cash. Its unfortunate that Nintendo is milking its most loyal fans by every possible means.

If your conclusion were true, then Nintendo's DLC pricing should have gotten worse and amiibos would be used to lock significant content out of the games.

My conclusion is true. If Nintendo remained "past" Nintendo they would have given DLC as free. Look at CD Project Red.

Everyone who played it knows 40 bucks is the correct price.

Yeah, like how they "remastered" year-old Wii games on Wii U ... :p

Just admit that you were caught, then everyone can move on.

Admit? Lol. Why should I admit something which I havent done in first place?

Nobody expected Nintendo to make DLC and they did. Its against classic Nintendo philisophy. And this is the stepping stone towards future DLC plans like Microsoft and Sony. Amiboo's are also like disc locked content. But this is presented in a smart way so people are getting it.

As for conclusion I am quoting one of the most respected develoeprs words, CD Project Red. Why they are most respected? Because they have earned that place.

"As gamers, we nowadays have to hold on tight to our wallets, as surprisingly right after release, lots of tiny pieces of tempting content materialize with a steep price tag attached. Haven't we just paid a lot of cash for a brand new game?" he says.

"As CD Projekt Red, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work and, with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we have decided to do it differently," he added. "This is our way of saying thank you for buying our game."

"Milking"? Nintendo made a small, affordable AA puzzle-platformer due to the positive reception towards the levels in SM3DW. They made it because fans wanted it. It's that simple. We aren't talking about EA or Ubisoft here.
