I think the length is fine. $40 is well worth the time I've put into the game so far. I could see them continuing to add more books as well in the form of $5-10 dlc. I think it makes more sense to make it its own game for a few reasons...one, the game drought. Two, it really helps to establish Toad and Toadette as their own stand alone characters, capable of headlining their own titles. Three, it really helped Nintendo put resources behind this game. Don't be surprised to see a few of the elements introduced in this title get reworked in the next mainline 3D Mario title...particularly the world spinning/flipping.
