It would be two years in 2016 for Japan. The DSi was released in late 2008 in Japan, and the 3ds in early 2011. That is about 2.5 years difference. So we should expect 3DS successor early to late 2017.

Handheld? No. I personally think this is their new home console.
Hilarious! We're approaching 2020 and we'll still be using x86.
I know there's no need to change yet, we're too comfortable with it, but I believe our grandsons and granddaughters will blame us for it.

that makes no sense at all...

Wont the grandchildren be moving past silicon chips anyway? Graphene and in specialized cases Quantum computing seen to be the future. Silicon just wont be able to fit anymore transistors.
So, it will release in 2017, most likely a hybrid handheld/home console and I have a feeling Nintendo will be far more prepared to sell alot of this release :).
Yeah.. All we can really do is wait and see if this is related to the Nintendo Fusion or not!

''we are spending the money and the resources and the work to go ahead and design the parts to be introduced sometime in 2016.''
So the actual statement is super ambiguous. Introduced to who? The client (Nintendo)? Mass produced for dev kits?Doesn't sound like they mean introduced to consumers to me
