Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Does Microsoft have the right intentions as a video game console maker for a gamer?

Are they in the gaming business to make gamers happy or just to make money or both?

Do you think Microsoft listens to the gamers well enough?

Are they just in it to take over as much of the gaming business as possible and couldn't care less about the gamers?

I know Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo all want to take over as much of the gaming business like any other but there's also a fine line where they're actually willing to give more to the gamer then getting back, do you think Microsoft is good for this?

Idk what Nadella's intentions are but I know that the Head of Xbox is all for the gamers.

I think the better question would be, in their ultimate goal to make money (a business that doesn't make money is a failing business), are they trying to make gamers happy?
To which, I would say yea, they are trying to please their gamers in the best way they see fit.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

They only came into the gaming industry to to take out Sony because they refused to partner with them. They were also working on their own OS and Ms dosent like when other multimedia companies are popular and have their own os, so they sought to destroy the. It sounds very silly to even phrase it that way. Every company is in business for the same reasons: money and control. But Sony and Nintendo have individuals who are incredibly passionate about gaming, whereas that hasn't always been the case with Microsoft, which has pursued that agenda a little bit more nakedly especially during the latter half of the past gen. But fortunately it seems like with Phil Spencer they finally have a guy in charge who really does "get" gaming, and at least for now it appears like they're giving him the leeway to pursue his vision.

Sounds like Sony lol

Sony tried to partner with Nintendo and Nintendo backed out last minute (it was a big mess) so Sony made the Playstation one and well we all know what happened.

Business compete's, Oh just like Sony tried to DESTROY nintendo right?

I don't think so or they would have never changed directions so fast.

What about Sony, Valve, Nintendo and so. Are they in the business to make gamers happy or just to make money?

What a stupid question mate.

People ultimately start businesses because they want to improve the world in some way, while making a buck or two in the process.

Ultimately, you have to have people at the very top who are "passionate" about the industries they're working on, or the firm will lose step with the consumers. This happened at Microsoft, and there's been personnel changes as a result.
