Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Bayo 2 is A BIG sucess!!!

Having said that, and as much as I would love to get Bayo2, no game for me is worth having to buy a console for it. I just do not care for Nintendo and haven't since the N64.

Out of curiosity, how many games would it take for it to be worth buying the console?

As long as they are happy about it while not losing money, thats all I need to hear

Nintendo is the publisher, so they're the ones who eaten the loss.

Depends on the deal really. In some situations, the game has to sell at least $X before the developers see a penny, while in others the whole thing is bought and paid for in advance, with the publisher collecting the entire amount afterwards. If Platinum is pleased with the sales performance, I suspect it's because we're looking at something closer to the latter than the former.

Indeed. We know it's no where near making a profit, but it sold well enough that they're pleased with the buzz is generated.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I dunno if its a "big" success, but if Platinum is pleased with the game's performance then that's really the most important thing. Nintendo needs good relationships with 3rd party developers, so seeing this deal work out well for Platinum & Nintendo is great.

Well it's certainly critically successful, and at this rate it should hit 1m lifetime on Wii U, so yeah given the circumstances, successful game by far

XBOX ONE/Wii U/3DS/PC

RIP Iwata 12/6/1959-7/11/2015

Thanks for all the great memories!

I know it got rave reviews, even better than the first one. I wish it had been released on the Xbox. Bayonetta is my favorite action game of all time, despite how silly and disjointed the story was. Having said that, and as much as I would love to get Bayo2, no game for me is worth having to buy a console for it. I just do not care for Nintendo and haven't since the N64.

So you don't have any console?

Success!? Bwahahahahah .... I love the game and it's definitely among the best hack and slash titles I've played, but I extracted nothing (remotely) related to "success" from the reading - at least not with respect to sales.

So what is success then?

There are different shades of success. A critical success (which it is), a commercial success (which I am much less sure of), etc. The language used is not definitive and doesn't exactly say it is the latter (sales). "Warmly welcomed" is vage and could mean different things, but I'm inclined to think it's not sales related, so that's a different kind of success for them.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

I asked what you would consider a commercial success for the game.

No, you did not. You mean you meant to ask that - which is fine. You asked what is success. Clearly a much broader question. Now you're asking something much more defined ....

No mention of success.

Which you are dodging. Sure it was my original intention to ask that. I was merely asking your opinion. Usually when everyone is talking about something, asking how it is defined means you are curious about what the subject means. Try putting the original question into context.

See here? I was pointing toward that last and first bit of your sentence. Where it is bolded.
