That was changed after the PS3 release. Microsoft published the original game, the box art has it, if you played the game at all you would have seen it in the credits as well. Any article online from that time will also tell you this.

Sounds good. Saves SE some money on the marketing that they can put directly back in to the game. Will mean a better Tomb Raider in the long run.

They offered to pay for the Xbox version. They are trying to use the same excuse as Sony. Capcom is going under and SE isn't.

Sorry I sound angry, I'm just sick of people crushing on one company when another does the same thing. There is no excuse either way, it's just as much a part of the industry as buying developers. It happens. Whatever. Just be happy this is a timed exclusive and will arrive on PS4 eventually.

U4 will make this game sell less on PS4 anyway.They were right to go with Xbox since they can not compete with U4.

Actually SE is making money these days thanks to the success of FF14. Sure the TR deal will sweeten the deal but let's be honest here, MS are not saving SE. SE is saving themselves without MS.  If anything, they will break even considering 5 million on the first game didn't bring a profit. It was only after the current gen versions launched did SE make money off the original game.

I think people are on MS back more because they are the only company who pays for third party games instead of their own first party games.Nintendo and Sony have a large list of first party unlike MS.

This is also true but FF14 being on PS3/PS4 is what's saving them.They have both sold better than the PC version just like FF13 compared to the 360 version.Square was losing money til they finally released a game on PS3.

Microsoft Publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider, Helping Develop the Game


Microsoft is publishing the Xbox exclusive Rise of the Tomb Raider, according to a tweet from Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg. The game was announced as an Xbox exclusive at Gamescom 2014 in August.

"Yes we are publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider," answered Greenberg when asked if Microsoft or Square Enix were publishing the game.

A Square Enix representative has now released a statement to GameSpot confirming the news. Microsoft is providing help to develop and market the game.

"Yes, Microsoft will be publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox," said the Square Enix representative. "Microsoft has always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and they will get behind this game with more support across development, marketing and retail than ever before, which we believe will be a step in continuing to build the Tomb Raider franchise as one of the biggest in gaming."
