Forums - Sony Discussion - SONY FY14 Q2: Results $1.2bn loss. 3.3m ps4 shipped.

Tagged. Are analysts expecting another loss?

I'm predicting PS4+PS3 will be 4-4.5mand PS Vita, PS TV and PSP will be just under 1m.

PS4 shipped LTD will be at least 13m (I'm guessing Sony has managed to get 1m in the channel) but if production has increased then PS4 could do with more than 1m, so maybe we'll see some huge PS4 shipments, If 1.5m is in the channel then PS3+PS4 could be 4m with PS4 LTD shipped being about 13.7m

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I predict PlayStation in the green but most of the other sectors in the red...

Hoping for some good results. Well... we know PS4 shipments will be good anyways

While everything else will be shit and doom worthy. Either way, gonna be a field day for fanboys and haters alike.

Really cool to see how sony is catering to ALL gamers.

Expecting good shipments, and the usual people downplaying them and talking about nothing other than Sony's overall loss

Smartphones will be taking the bigger loss here I suspect. PS will probably be the most profitable again...

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

So VGC has PS4 sell through at 2.75 million or thereabouts. PS4 ought to have about 1.5 million in the retail channels at least heading in to October. 1 million in the supply chain could indicate possible supply problems for the holidays, or overtrack by VGC.

Will they announce 12 million sell through during this report? If there is 12 million sell through that would be a bright spot on a financial report that doesn't have great news outside of Playstation 4 and financial services.

Sony music normally does OK. Sony Pictures didn't have a huge quarter. Spiderman was all but over. 22 Jump street got most of its revenue in the previous quarter. Sex Tape did OK thanks to it's fairly modest budget. And the Equalizer just managed to squeeze in its OK opening weekend before the quarter closed out, the bulk of it's earnings will come in the December quarter. So although all those movies made a reasonable return for Sony because aside from Spiderman they had pretty modest budgets, the gross revenue doesn't add much to its bottom line for the quarter.

Sony might still make an operating profit.

People will takk about both, rightly so. Its a financial thread.   If you cant take the overall conversation stay out of the thread.

I don't care about people talking about both, I'm talking about the people who will downplay the shipments, which is what most people care about here after all
