It's definitely a win for Windows Phone.

tbh if it was coming to vita, it would have come to windows phone anyway. Even if it wasnt, 2.5bn still isnt worth it.

No, you don't understand. Microsoft has just made Windows Phone the place to one of the most popular mobile games ever. Not only that, but they have secured a game that has ingrained itself on nine different platforms. That in itself is a boon, and the influence that comes with it is certainly worth a lot of money. Whether or not it is $2.5 billion worth of money is yet to be seen.

So you expect them to pull the game from iOS and Android and make it a Windows Phone exclusive? That's just going to cripple the game's install base and lose out on a ton of revenue. People are not going to buy a phone just to play Minecraft.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

I wonder if it is worth it. With this money they could buy Capcom and most of Konami´s I.Ps, with studios and everything.
Mojang is probably nothing but the Minecraft I.P., which, granted, is huge.
But they should buy Capcom instead. In the long run it would pay off.

However, I could be wrong if Minecraft 2 comes and it sells at least half of the original numbers. That would be interesting.

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

And where in the world did I say that? I said that it would be the place to play one of the most popular mobile games, i.e the Windows platform would be the definitive version. They would be downright stupid to remove it from other platforms, but they can give extra incentives to Windows users (faster updates, exclusive content, etc).

Yeah, but fusion code is still right in saying people wont flock to windows phone because of that. Theres a million other reasons before minecraft as to why people choose android and iphones over windows phone. Minecraft simply isnt a reason to pick one platform over another... no individual app is.

I don't think it will have much of an impact on the consoles race.

I doubt MS will pull Minecraft from their competitors since they are in it for the money. The last thing MS would want is another PR backlash from the gamers.

Besides they didn't do it with Skype, so they won't do it with this game. They will push the IP and use it to generate more profit like selling merchandise for example and keeping it on every platform available will generate more cash flow in their direction.

If this deal turnsout to be a flop though, Microsoft's days in the gaming market are numbered. All the shareholders wanting Microsoft to drop yhe gaming division will have their way.

And if it doesn't Mojang better come up with some good new games otherwise it's still a stomp in the face to the gaming community.

Honestly i don't see anything positive coming out of this.

If I was MS this is how I'd deal with it ... no PS4/Wii U versions. But yes to PS3/3DS. Why? Well PS3, when those people get hooked on Minecraft and want to buy a new console ... they're going to have to look at an X1. So that's fine, the 360/PS3 war is basically over anyway.

MS isn't really competing with the 3DS, might as well get some of the kids fanbase there and again the kids that have a 3DS and are really into Minecraft may ask for an X1 as their console of choice in that case.

So X1/360/Windows Phone/PC/PS3/3DS/Android/iOS .... is that multi-plat enough for you?

This has very little to do with their gaming division.

MS has 96 billion USD in cash in Europe to avoid high taxes in the US. That's where the money comes from. This is not even "Xbox budget".

This is.more of a mobile thing than Xbox. still a very creative developer and a powerful IP is never a bad thing to own.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
