Forums - Gaming Discussion - Did Sony lose Japan?

The japanese public see the ps4 as a western centric console and so do their devs. Look at sony's 1st party games, killzone, infamous, etc all western centric games. .

Despite what people may think Japan is Nintendo's territory. Nintendo have Dragon Quest from Square Enix and Monster Hunter from Capcom as Nintendo exclusives, which are easily the biggest Japanese system sellers. The third biggest franchise would be Dynasty Warriors and now there is a co-development of Zelda Warriors with Tecmo Koei. Not to mention other co-developments/cross overs, Namco Bandia developing Smash Bros with Nintendo, Atlus doing FE x SMT, Platinum Bayonetta 2 and The W101, Sega and Sonic games.

Japan is fully behind Nintendo. All jap support will go where ever MH and DQ go.

Sony as a whole has become a dead brand in Japan. Japanese rather buy Korean TVs/electronics than Sony products which is a feat for such a xenophobic nations as Japan, that should tell you how popular Sony is there.

Japan's largest carrier is now using the iPhone on it's network to replace Sony as it's main brand of phones after ten years of Sony domination as the biggest mobile provider. Samsung's has also taken 2nd place in the Japan mobile market as and knocked Sony into third and free falling fast. Its once Mobile monopoly is finished.

That's how much Sony is doomed. Japan would rather have a Korean product than a Japanese product. But then Samsung and LG hired all the Japanese engineers Sony fired over the last 10 years so karma is a fucking bitch.

You really don't know what you're talking about. DW isn't even a top 10 franchise and even in its prime would barely fit the list.

Ask me again after FFXV and KH3 come out. Its just too difficult to predict at this time, but i think the PS4 will turn it around or at least have a 50/50 battle with the Wii U in Japan. I just dont see games like the Tales series leaving Sony platforms, so they will have console selling titles for sure.

Pretty sure Apple and Google own that market.

Don't they own all the markets?

Pretty much.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

One game alone will be more then enough to make japan PS4 land.

And what is that game, out of curiosity?

I dont recall anything selling more than 400k ish on a home console in japan lately.

I dont think this "one" game exists, but i would like to know what you have in mind.

Dq FF MH hell even Khearts could be it.   Lets be real all the PS4 is facing is the wiiu, that aint exactly steller competition.

Some Dragon ball or Gundam gaem will be very telling of the future.  Given the mind blowing numbers the vita has done with no big game just smaller ones, the future is not exactly hard to predict.

PS4 isnt stellar competition for WiiU either. You named 4 games in which 2 that we dont kno will even be on PS4.

Vita numbers arent mind blowing at all neither, it has huge third party support and that doesn't give any facts toward ps4 as HH are much bigger than Consoles. Im willing to say lifetime Vita will easily be bigger than PS4  despite PS4 getting Big Named games.

Except it is, it sold what it did on nothing remotly japan centric.  Just said what it will take, and they all will make it on PS4 you can bet your nuts on it.

Ill bet PS4 out sales PS3 in japan lt.

So your expecting over 10.5mil lifetime? (i think ps3 surpassed 10mil in the beginning of the year so 10.5mil seems like a good end estimate)

Well good luck with that, i seriously doubt it but i could be wrong. I think 6-8mil is more realistic
