I have also been trying to cut google out. for the exact same reasons. does your interent provider give you an email account you can use? i would try them first and see if they are acceptable to you. other than that, i do use sky drive instead of google drive, and there are other free cloud storage out there that are reputable and good. and duckduckgo i have also heard is good.

Lavaboom and protonmail are good but in beta and you'll have to get on a waitinglist. Tutanota launched yesterday so no info on that one.. Mega.co.nz is the one to go for online drive space.
Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

This.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
sethnintendo said: I wanted to stop using Google because they are simply getting too big and I don't care for them sharing my data. I would like to move to a decently low priced paid email that encrypts (not like it matters since government can break encryptions) and doesn't share my data or try to personalize ads towards me (not like it matters too much because I use ad block). I basically just don't trust them anymore. |
Actually the one thing we know through Snowden is safe is PGP-encryption of E-Mail. Still, you would do that on your own computer and not on a webservice, as in that case the webservice can see your unencrypted mail and will share it with the US-government.

I could elaborate more but basically I just want some suggestions on a good search site (which is bland and basic like Google). Please no bing, yahoo, or msn suggestions because their home page is way too flashy/crap I don't want to see. |
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to use either duckduckgo or ixquick. Duckduckgo seems to have a better UI. I'll still look into switching to a better email service and I don't want to use my ISP provider email considering they would bow down to their NSA overlord in less than a second. I don't trust the main ISP like Time Warner, Cox, AT&T, etc.
