Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo 2 might not hit 1080p - guiz we need to talk about this

Tagged games:

I can imagine that this collection has minimal staff working on it with a release time frame looming. I doubt it's a high priority for them to get this game running 1080p. That said I don't think we'll see Halo 5 running at 1080p either as 60FPS will (as it sohuld) be the main goal.

That's ok. 3/4 games that are 1080p is fine.

Why would 2 not be 1080p if 3 and 4 are ? Is it the aniversary graphic overhaul thats doing this ?

What they are doing on the collection is a minor miracle. If Halo 2A runs at 900p, are we really caring that much?

Not this Halo nerd. An OG Xbox game that looks that amazing running on X1? Please.

The fixation on the 1080p number is ridiculous, in my opinion. I'd much rather have the frame rate and all the additional features the new consoles offer than care about 1080p vs 900 or whatever. Put the power in AI and lighting and environmental upgrades and number of characters on screen etc. It matters to me absolutely zero.

The people screaming for 1080 at all costs are going to hold back games. You;re going to get the limited number of animations on screen at once and the corridor shooters that can afford the textures vs. living worlds and advanced AI if you demand the sacrifices. And that goes for PS4 as well. It's much easier to hyper-texture Drake's face laying on the ground when it's the only thing rendered than it is having him in an open-worldish type environment. I'd sacrifice a wrinkle or two on his world-weary face if it gave me more realistic, immersive environments or incredible set pieces.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

I thought this might happen just based on how great the Halo 2 images looked.

I can live without 1080p. 60 fps is ideal.

Halo 5 isn't hitting 1080, is it?

We really don't need to talk about this. Framerate in a shooter? Maybe. Resolution? lol no.

Hopefully they will do the right thing and delay it until they get it right. It would be terrible if they botch the game people were anticipating the most. I understand the difficulty, and I hope everything will turn out in the end.

Lol.

I'm highly anticipating this game. You know, for real. I.don't want it delayed. Haven't seen any other ms fans say that they would also like it delayed..... So basically...

No.

Makes perfect sense to me; 3 and 4 are 360 graphics, which Xbone can easily handle at 1080p. 2 is remade in Xbone quality graphics, which the system routinely struggles/fails to get to 1080p.

I'm just glad they have their priorities straight and are focussing on framerate.
900p at 60fps > 1080p with a variable framerate.

This was also an issue with 360 Halo AE, ran two frame buffers and the remastered graphics and frame rate suffered as a result. Same is happening here, I'm not sure it was worth having the option to switch on the fly.
