Earlier today, research firm NPD revealed its video-game industry sales figure for the month of March 2014, Playstation 4 continues to lead hardware sales for third month in a row, and software was dominated by Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall.

Microsoft's Major Nelson aka Larry Hryb via Twitter and Reddit shared his views on performance of Sony, Playstation 4 and Titanfall in March 2014.

Nelson first congratulated Sony on Reddit and added that next-gen consoles war is a Marathon and not a sprint and they are aware of things to do to win it:

"Congrats to Sony. As I've mentioned before, this is a marathon not a sprint and we know what we need to do ;)"

When one user asked Nelson that the thread on Reddit is about NPD Xbox One sales and a comment about Sony and PS4 is pretty awkward? Nelson replied:

"Well, Sony is an obvious competitor and should be recognized for what they've done. It's the proper thing to do."

Lastly, Nelson shared his views on Phil Spencer promotion at Microsoft as new Head of Xbox Division.

"If you watch the interview I did with Phil – he was pretty clear on what we need to do and that focus on games."

"Phil is a great guy and I a really happy he is “Head Of Xbox"

Its great thing to know that Microsoft execs acknowledging dominance of Sony and Playstation 4 in next-gen consoles war, but at the same time hinting that the war is far from over.

I can't wait for the truth to come out.

That's right, in a long term Xbox will be better. Microsoft loves long term support! just like the X360 :O

I think he has it wrong. Its not hype the PS4 has, but customer belief that Sony is gonna deliver games like they have with their past consoles.
Hype is when theres so much advertisement and PR pressure that the customer is convinced to make an impulse buy. I dont think thats what Xbox has to fight here. Actually, there is little hype for the PS4 atm, besides the sales numbers. I really havent seen much advertisment at all. Its almost like a ghost launch because there arent any consoles in the stores (sold out).

The medicine is right on the ball though. Thats what they have to do. Games.

Lower the price, otherwise they have no chance. EU they will never win except UK, Japan is also lost since day 1.
People mostly buy because of price.

Sony hasn't even brought out their biggest. guns yet. InFamous is just a taste of it and it help fell a titan. haha

Let me add to that, that its also not helping them one bit to be almost one year without releasing on many other markets. Do you know what is happening? PS4 is hogging the shelf space for games (tanking from the PS3 and 360). Its gonna be difficult for the X1 to come out of its shadow.

I think it has been pretty obvious that Microsoft is focused on Games, and im sure that is going to continue for the coming years. I dont care which one sells more but i do care if theyre focusing on games or not. If microsoft has made the gamers happy, theyre doing their job in my opinion.

This, PS4 sells thankts to trust about having a lot of good first party games, japanese games until the end and even after.

X1 doesnt sell also because a lot of gamers was legitimately disappointed by the last  3 years of almost nothing on 360
