Forums - Gaming Discussion - Watchdogs On Wii U - How Can People Be So Selfish??

Is this meant to be a controversial thread? I agree with everything.

Im getting it on wii u if it gets good reviews across the board regardless of graphics been a little worse then ps4.If it plays aswell as ac4 on wii u ill be very happy. To be fair I wouldnt have bought watchdogs in may/june anyway cos of mk8

Well I certainly won't wait a few months for an inferior game. If WiiU version came out at the same time as the PC version I might have considered it. Now I'll just get it on PC (if at all, Watch Dogs honestly becomes more unappealing with each new trailer they release).

this time I agree with you.
I buy Watch Dog on Wii U, and it will be fantastic.

This thread doesn't make sense.

Hardly anybody has said that Watch Dogs should be delayed to match the Wii U version.

People have expressed annoyance at the delay, they've said that they won't buy it, that they'll buy it elsewhere, that they'll buy it regardless if it's good, etc. But hardly anybody has said seriously, that Ubisoft would be justified in delaying everyone else...

Can't believe I just posted in a toastboy thread, feel dirty.

Im planning to get it on Wii U, unless they announce that it will be lacking in some of the online features... which im kind of expecting.
The use of the gamepad in game is really pushing me towards just waiting it out and buying it a few months later.

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

The Wii U version was the only version I wanted. Since it's being delayed, I say don't release a WU version at all. It will just be a bigger embarrassment than it already was. I don't even know what Watchdogs is about. I just wanted it because it was supposed to make good use of the controller. Whether I get it now or not is up in the air. I own a PS4 and Xbox One so I may already own it by the time the Wii U version releases or I may lose interest waiting for the Wii U version entirely.

I have heard from people on here that the Wii U version and the other versions of watchdogs should be released at the same time. How can you guys be so selfish?

The Wii U version needs special dev time because of weird/unfamiliar tech and you guys expect ubisoft to delay the game on all other systems so that the Wii U will be getting watchdogs at the same time? Let me get this straight, you guys want ubisoft to delay this game more for around 200million+ people just to satisfy a couple million Wii U owners?

I have even heard users on this site go as far as saying that they will never buy watchdogs for Wii U to teach Ubisoft a lesson. Wii U owners should just be lucky they are getting this game, it looks fun!

I'm getting the Wii U version, but I don't mind the delay. I'll be playing lots of MK8 during WD's release window anyway. I do feel lucky to have WD! Got a good feeling they game will have some cool extra Gamepad features. I'm with you, toast, WiiU gamers shouldn't get too upset with this. Port beggars can't be choosers.

WiiU version isn't necessarily more difficult to develop. I think the whole WD project's scope got out of control and they had to move the multi-plat release much later than promised. To meet the late-May ship date, the Wii U developer's were re-aligned to work on other platforms.

Jonathan Morin @Design_Cave

"I answer this one. We needed to focus on the overall experience and some Wii U staff was needed for this. Logistic."

After release, a small team of these same people will return to work on the Wii U version while a majority of all the developers move on to other projects. That's why the release date for the WiiU version is delayed for so long.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I don't understand your logic and i don't have a wiiu.

A game develepment cycle is usually more than an year, you have plenty of time to schedule what resources to use for every platform so you publish them same time.

But i think WiiU users shouldn't complain so much ,

because pc gamers gets many games with 6 months -1 year delay, and they are hundrends of millions not just 6 million WiiU users.

Especially when you knew that 4 last generations of gaming , nintendo hasn't the strongest 3rd party support (from Nintendo 64 area)

There's fair and then there's business sense...

Delay Wii U Rayman Legends to allow simultaneous release for all platforms - good business sense.

Delay Watch Dogs to allow simultaneous release for all platforms (inc. Wii U) - bad business sense.

Please explain yourself, as just making baseless assertions doesn't make what you are saying true.

Rayman Legends was set to be one of the biggest titles in the Wii U launch window, when there was little else releasing. Most Wii U owners who frequented sites such as this were excited about the game and planning to buy it. However, with the delay and making the game multiplatform, the game was pushed way back to release next to other big hitters in the crowded "Fall 2013" market such as GTA and Wind Waker HD. This caused the game to largely be overlooked on the PS3/360 and there were more choices for the Wii U as well. With this decision, Ubisoft lost every advantage they had with Rayman Legends and pissed off a decent amount of people.

With Watch Dogs, I don't think that delaying the game on all platforms in necessary or even a good idea, however, I do not think it would have been exceptionally difficult to release the Wii U version alongside all of the other versions. If anything, delaying the last gen versions (360/PS3) would have been a better move, as it would encourage people to upgrade to new systems (which is beneficial for Ubi in the long term) and it wouldn't have a negative impact on sales of any one platform of goodwill from consumers. The way Ubi is handling Watch Dogs ensures that it will sell terribly, and goes further into pissing off some of their consumers...
