I wouldnt necessarily say it was ethomaz's fault, more that the ethomaz thing was the straw that broke the camels back.

I like the idea of a safe haven, but I'm not sure if this forum could ever be such a thing. I come here to talk games with people who share my hobby, but often I leave the site worse for wear. There are great members here and great discussions to be had, but there is also a lot of behavior that makes me embarrassed to be a video game fan.

And you can say "that's the internet," or "that's the way it's always been," but that doesn't mean we can't strive to be better. I believe in this community, and I believe in its members. I really think we can get better if we hold ourselves and each other accountable for our words, which, as tads12 wrote, carry a lot of weight.

Maybe then great members like tads12 and amp316 would still be here, and we'd be better for it.

Well would you look at that. I also share the same sentiment with Trash being that this place is an unbearable mess but the same thing will happen over and over again until a large portion of the users get permabanned.

I've been around this site for 4-5 years now and its no worse or better than its been. I can say the same for the majority of other gaming site; the annonymous internet in general. There are a few sites that seem able to stand above this, I'm sure you all have your own favorites as well. And while I respect the sentiment given here, the perceivd internet hate and love does not exist, its imagined. Words on a page. Lets be friends, stranger. Lets be enemies, stranger. It is the depth of stupidity to think we know each other. Internet is fantasy.

Simple critical thinking and a basic education. It's ok to listen and learn, know when to shut the fuck up, and when to speak loudly.

What a fantastic final message. This is something that all of us should take to heart, I know nobody is perfect but there is nothing wrong with striving to become a better person and treating others with respect.

I am following vgchartz for two years. For the first year I was a stalker. What I have seen that these rivalry between fanboys are quite common. But it sometimes goes out of control. This is why we have mods. Vgchartz has better members than other sites such as gamespot where mindless fanboys talk without logic. But we cant blame him for this. I hope he comes back.

See you later Trash. I've been active on this site since the end of 2009 (Jesus Christ), and it doesn't seem like it's changed all that much. The general mood rises and falls about the same throughout the year, and the arguments and stealth trolling has been fairly consistent throughout my time here. Hopefully he'll just take a break and come back as a regular user instead of a mod.

I agree with users who say the site has barely changed in years, which is good thing in my opinion. It hasn't degraded into a unbearable mess. The only difference is that the company on top has changed. And from posts from mods, it seems this has much more to do with what Trash had going on in his personal life than the current state of VGC. I wish him well with whatever it is he is dealing with. Personally, VGC is more of an escape from the problems I have going on in my life, but that's just me.

I agree that the forums have taken a turn for the worse lately, a wave of entirely new members starting their posts with insults and personal jabs, ancient bickering boiling up every now and then and dense brick-wall members who refuse to listen to reason and generally drag the average quality of discussions down wherever they go.
It reminds me of 07 and 08, so I'm quite confident that the forums will calm down a little once the dust of the very fresh generation settles.
Perhaps I'm only just noticing all this now though since I've removed myself mostly from the discussions on any personal level, I used to get so angry and passionate about posting here, now it's more calculated and superficial.

Hope you'll find a worthy replacement for good 'ole Trasharmdsister12 and that he gets through whatever it is he's dealing with personally. I liked his message, but I don't think many will take it to heart, sadly.
I'll try to do my part at any rate though and hope others will as well.

I think people are being a bit overdramatic when they talk about how bad this forum has become. Compared to other gaming forums I'd say this is one of the better ones. Ah well, that's just my perspective. Goodbye Trasharmdsister, hope you come back one day.
