Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft acquired Gears of War rights. Black Tusk to develop the games

This is the reason I bought the Sony console this generation. Sony focuses on creating new IP and they create new studios, Microsoft tend to recycle what is successful in hopes of making a little more money.

ioi was right. This  place needs a lot of improving.  >.>

As long as Black Tusk is still working on it's new IP then I am absolutely fine with this.

The Gears of War franchise was my favourite exclusive series on the Xbox 360 so I'm happy to see it continue, Hopefully Microsoft does it right, unlike Judgement which a lot of people seemed to dislike (I never played that one)

I'm happy to see that there seems to be a nice mix of both old and new IP going into this gen on both PS4 and XB1 with old stuff like Gears, Halo, Forza, Uncharted and Infamous, Whilst also having new stuff like Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, The Order and DriveClub

It's always a shame to see a franchise completely vanish when a new gen comes since you want to see it on better hardware etc etc, But on the other hand new IP usually just brings a fresh feeling which makes it more interesting.

I've been seeing xbox supporters say the franchise had run it's course. I don't expect this to be big news all of a sudden or is that attitude going to change now that a PS4 version is less likely?

After Judgement, yes, Gears ran it's course. But now that Epic isn't lazily handling the franchise yes our attitude has changed.

And it is a plus that it will never come to PS4.

soooo... everyone basically said gears was dead when they thought it might end up on any platform and now its xbox only again your tunes change? how predictable

Links?

Judgment really lacked the kick that Gears 1-3 all had, and with 3 actually putting an end to the main story youd be expected to guess that the series had indeed run its course.

Now though, Gears is under a new dev team with new creative ideas. Franchise is loads of fun and the consumer loves it too. This is great for Microsoft.

LoL... So biased...

Spencer said the teaser at E3 was just some concept piece so no new IP. Makes me sad rather have them work on something new

Looks like MS is doing another Halo here, the original studio doesn't want to make games in the franchise anymore, so MS lets another studio do it, in this case that means MS also had to buy the IP.

Well let's see if they have as much success with this as they had with Halo 4, after Gears Judgment I kinda have my doubts.
