Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft acquired Gears of War rights. Black Tusk to develop the games

Lets hope it's a reboot and not some bullshit continuation from Gears of War: Judgment.

Now the tones will change completely among the fans of both consoles. Sony fans will not care about the franchise, and Xbox fans who used to say that this franchise was dead, will cheer and party again.

okay, i'll bite.   Sony fan.

Was gears a good franchise?  yep, i've got no problem saying that.  i placed the 1st one, it was fun.

...but now that gears has moved to MS/Black tusk it means that whatever epic is working on isn't gears.  for playstation fans this is great news as a new IP is better than jumping in on the 5th entry of an established franchise.  so i'm pretty cool with this.  Good for MS,.. but also good for PS.

They're still working on Fortnite and Unreal Engine 4. So yes, good for everyone.

Pretty big move for MS, and some of these comment are so predictable.

Didn't Rod say he's working on a new game from 2k games? It really seems as if they didn't even start so that it will take a while to see something.

Speaking of which, bring Fortnite to consoles.  It was originally announced as PC exclusive but id like it on consoles as well.

Judgement was an awful game. Its obvious Epic had no idea what to do with Gears after they lost Cliff and Rod F.

Letting a new studio work on it could be exactly what this franchise needs. Plus Rod is back which is HUGE

Didn't you say that you won't buy a next gen console anyway? Or did that change?

Thank fucking god, I wouldn't want to see Sony waste any effort on it - third party moneyhat or first party.

Thank you, MS.

edit: came off a bit extreme, but had the Sony+Gears of War rumor in the back of my mind. I guess I am happy MS killed that rumor forever and ever.

Yah because more games on the Playstation platforms would be bad for Playstations fans, right? :) Not sure why you would thank Microsoft for voiding the possibility of an exclusive (and a good one) coming out on Playstation too, I hope you know how ridiculous it is...

There are a LOT of Gears of Wars fans out there and having this game on your favorite platform could ONLY help; nothing else...

OP: I'm not a big fan of this franchise (3rd person shooters in general)... But knowing how many people like this game (and the universe) it is a great news for Microsoft.
