Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Will the Wii U be the last Nintendo console you buy year one?

day 1 - someone has to support them otherwise the sales will be even worst then wii u.

Look at Sony and Microsoft fans. Even with all the DRM BS both sold extremely well. That is what you call support.

Why didn't you guys learn from n64 like I did or with the GameCube, you guys are nuts

Can't make any promises. If Nintendo pulls a Wii and releases a full-fledge Zelda game on it day 1, I won't wait.

I leaned my lesson to be mindful of launch lineups, though with the 3DS. I ended up spending $100 too much not waiting for the price drop and was petting virtual puppies for 3 months waiting for a Zelda remake, so naturally I now pay close attention to the launch window releases and vague accordingly.

I have no problem buying a Nintendo console year one. There are a few reasons why I haven't bought the Wii U yet, but none of them are really Nintendo's fault. I got married, bought a house, and am in the process of furnishing the house. On top of that, I still need to catch up on the Wii games I already own.

I have never personally had a gaming drought. I am not one of those people that needs something new to play every single month.

Year 1, will definitely always get. Wii U was my first day one purchase.
May wait a few months for software patches next time.

Not unless the launch games are completely phenomenal and/or they offer some revolutionary new feature on par with the Wii. I'm not going to say that I regret buying the Wii U day one exactly, but the case for having waited at least a year instead is pretty strong.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

Next time I will wait until Mario Kart , Zelda, 3D Mario and Smash come out THEN I will buy the system.

I have never bought a home or handheld console day one, and probably never will. I've always found it better to wait until the price drops, software/hardware glitches are resolved, and the games are made.

I might consider the PS4 next year, but it all depends on which and how many games appeal.

I'll probably buy the next system within the first year. However, I won't necessarily get it at launch like I did with Wii and Wii U. Wii was worth it for Twilight Princess. I waited in line for 13 hours and would do it all over again for a Zelda launch title like that. Wii U didn't have any "killer app" games for me at launch, so I regret buying it day 1. When I get the next system will depend entirely on what first-party games are available and when.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

maybe I'm getting old but I've been doing this for 20+ years.  I won't buy ANY console year 1 any more !    I bought a GC on import from HK while living in Ireland because I just couldn't wait.  Thats as crazy as I've ever gotten or am ever willing to,.
