Pretty poor in my opinion, even compared to past launch lineups. Then again, FPSs generally aren't my thing, so I'm biased from that perspective.

Knack looked interesting for a while, but it's kinda sucking it up review-wise. Resogun certainly interests me, though. If I ever pick a PS4 up, I'm definitely going to give it a shot.

Not played any yet, but looking forward to KZ, BF, AC4, FIFA and probably need for speed, add on top of that Resogun and replaying Flower... cannot wait :)

I think Battlefield, Killzone, Assassin's Creed and pretty well every big name game in the launch line up is over rated. Not just for PS4, but in general I feel high budget games never get the scores they really deserve because they fund gaming websites with ads.

Need for Speed especially, no NFS game deserves a score above 75/100, except maybe the original Most Wanted.

I feel Knack got the only honest score, and that's a 60.

Have you played BF4, KZ: Shadow Fall, AC4, or NFS Rivals on PS4?

And there's no way in hell Knack is a 60. At least, not based on where I am in the game.

I've played BF4 and AC4 on a higer end PC, and played a bit of the Killzone in a store demo so yes I have played these games.

The jump to 1080p on PS4, while visually appealing, doesn't make the games play better either, so had I played them on PS3 it would of made no difference. AC, KZ, and BF are good games, but not phenominal. Good should be 70's, not 80's.

But they are getting mostly 7s and 8s (70s avg in KZ case). Can't speak for BF4, but I know AC4 has surprised a lot of people in a good way.

A wee bit worse than the Wii U's, but better than the 3DS's.

Love and tolerate.

You buy launch consoles for the hype and brand, hardly the games.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Of the games I have played since picking up pre-order:

Need for Speed Rivals - 89/100

AC4 - 83/100

Resogun - 94/100

Killzone: Shadow Fall - 82/100

Contrast - 64/100

Warframe - 75/100

Blacklight Retribution - 58/100

Based on my scores 77/100 for full release lineup.

Resogun completely steals the show. It is the best PS4 exclusive right now, and one of the best games I have played in a long time. Pretty much neverending replay value. I hope they make new level DLC packs as there are only like 5 levels. That is the only minimal nitpick in an otherwise flawless game. Killzone has incredible graphics and decent shooting. I love the fact that the campaign is actually really hard on hard. The new multiplayer system in Need For Speed is also top notch. Whoever came up with the seamless integration between Single and multiplayer is immensely skilled. The way it handles mp needs to be experienced to be appreciated. It kills. AC4 is a great game. Like many AC games the main plotline and missions are so/so, but this game separates itself by having side activities that are so entertaining they could eat up dozens of hours. Contrast is a really cool idea but I feel the actual gameplay and execution is somewhat flawed. Warframe is pretty neat. I like transitioning between cutting people in half and gun shooting. This game has great graphics also. Blacklight Retribution is sort of a downplayed nowereh near as good Counterstrike clone. I havn't played it that much but it seems kind of boring. I have been told that it is way better once you get better weapons / equip.

I got ACBF, KZSF, and BF4. With the Free PS+ games like Resogun and Contrast, and the F2P games; overall I would give the games I have a solid 7/10. So, I'm happy with the games.

But the PS4 itself is really nice, superfast and quiet. Switching between gameplay, apps, internet browser, then back again instantaneously, is very cool, and yes all I have to do is press a button, I don't actually have to talk out loud to my PS4.

All things considered it was good. Decent multiplat support (superior versions), 2 exclusive titles, F2P games like WarFrame and some bite sized games on PSN. In the grand scheme of things I'm glad DriveClub, Watch_Dogs and inFAMOUS are for Q1/Q2. They will help mitigate the drought effect early next year, and I have a feeling DC would have been overlooked at launch. It stands a better chance next year. People would have gone for multiplats at launch (as the recent PS4 numbers suggest).

Playstation = The Beast from the East

But their Metascore are mid 80's.

My rant isn't about PS4's lineup being bad, it's average, but games now get such inflated scores. Assassin's Creed 3 had a terrible ending, and Revolutions before that was also pretty bland. AC4 might spice up the genre, but I feel because it's getting roughly the same scores as AC3, that it's not that different of a game. Hence I feel the score is inflated because AC3's score was inflated.

If the AC series had scores which fluctuated between 70-90, then I would keep my mouth shut about AC4 because I have not played it that much, and for all I know it could have a good plot. However from what I've seen, I expect more of the same.

As for Killzone, it actually sounds like it's getting a score it deserves, which is good, but nothing special. That's exactly how I feel about the PS4 exclusive lineup, Killzone is no Wii Sports, Smash Bros Melee, Super Mario 64, or Halo, so it gives me little incentive to upgrade to the PS4 now.

That's a terrible reason to buy consoles.

Hype might be a factor because you can't judge a game before playing it, but brand? I think brand only plays an important role in console buying if you're basing your buy in expected future games/customer service/quality. I.e. if you buy a PS4 because you recognize late life PS3 support and exclusive content throught the life, that's a good reason to buy brand specific consoles. Same with avoiding an XBO because of 360 reliability issues.

---

I buy consoles, largely for the games, and a bit about the brand. I'll buy Sony over MS this time because of th bad experience I've had with the 360 and the good experiences I've had with PS1-3/PSP. I'll admit, the number of quality exclusives will be roughly the same in the end, but I know Sony will support the PS4 late life, and it won't break on me.

P.S. I bought my 360 largely because of Gears of War/Lost Planet, and I plan to buy a Wii U for X, Pikmin, and Smash Bros.
