they rock!! 9 4.79%

Many times the problem exists not with the connection, but with the place where you live. You don't expect people to buy another house because of internet connection do you?

Great for it, that still doesn't disprove my point that if you are able to spend $500+ you shouldn't have crappy internet.

Some people just live in crappy internet areas, money has nothing to do with it. Rich people can live out in the country as well you know, being well off doesnt improve local telephone infrastructure.

If you are rich you are able to afford the more pricey option to improve you conection by going with satellite providers.  Or they can create a hotspot through their cell phone which probably has the best and fasted plan available.

why not ship updates on game disks like we used to see on Wii? would save so much server use

either way I'm not liking this

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

lol so rediculous.

4G might be rampant where ever you live but its crap for most people, exepcially if you live far out of the citys. Someone that can afford a $500 console and someone that can afford satalite internet or unlimited 4G data plans are also worlds apart.

Hold your horses until you know the size of both updates you can't claim that the one for the PS4 is much smaller.

yet, you claimed its massive?

i agree its too early to compare the sizes. though from the looks of what each patch is going to do, it does seem safe to assume the xbox one (pun not intended) will be larger.

College students that live on campus usally have faster internet conections then most of the general population.  And even students that don't live on campus probably know more then a few students that live on campus that will let them use their internet for a short time.

It's not as if $500 is a significant amount for people in a steady job. You don't need to be rich to afford it. Heck, poor college students will be able to afford it by saving up for it, but they might not have internet connections.

^This. Also the solution shouldn't be "buy a better, more expensive connection". The update should be provided - if not freely - then, at least via game disks. It's the company's fault, that the update is needed, not the consumer's. In addition, it's a mandatory one, without which, you can't play games.

Really, you expect people to get a satellite connection for people who are just buying a £400 console... lol. Sorry that is pretty rediculous.

I have very good internet because i am close to the exchange (so i am making the point this does not affect me...). But many people are not, or they have limited broadband and have data allowances. If they have a 1 or 2GB monthy allowance, they could easily use up a months allocation for one patch to make it work.

Just cause someone can afford a £400 console doesnt mean they can afford expensive 4G connections etc. They might have been saving all year long etc.

Now I agree MS are in a difficult position, they had to remove DRM, and delaying the console would be a disaster for them, but they should be considering how to provide this information to the general user, so that they can make that decision. I suspect after a few million consoles the next will have the right software on (or those that are being made any day will)... so at that point its all good.

Dude, I'm not by any means rich, but gaming is a hobby I can support on my own (I'm single, live with a roommate, make about 40k a year). But my internet connection was 768kbps in my last place I lived only a few months ago. For my particular section of that neighborhood, that's as fast as AT&T offered and Comcast isn't that area at all (not that I would ever go with them, let alone go with them so I can play Xbox). I have an iPhone 4s because I'm locked into a contract until next November so using Sprint's 3G as a hotspot isn't a solution (the 4s isn't a 4G phone).

I'm not the only person in this kind of situation. So understand the fact that just because people can save money (yea, saving money. Kinda blows your whole "if you have $500 to spend on an Xbox, you should have good internet" statement out of the water. I'm about to drop $1500 on a trip to Europe, doesn't mean I can afford a Benz. It means I can save money for a 1-time purchase) or some homes have more than one income doesn't mean they are rich and should spend the excess amounts of money in order to accomodate an Xbox. You shouldn't have to just toss money everywhere in order play video games. It's pathetic to try and shift the burden away from the manufacturer and onto the consumer. You should be putting the blame on the source of the problem (Microsoft with their shitty DRM having to be reversed) instead of the customer.

I mean, really, who in their right mind says "well, if you want to play Xbox, you should jump through any and all hoops to do it. Even buy expensive satellite internet (a monthly bill, btw) in order to JUST PLAY GAMES THAT YOU OWN".
