Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One Useless without day 1 patch...

What is your opinion of day one patches for consoles and games?

they suck 73 38.83%

they are a necessary evil 54 28.72%

they rock!! 9 4.79%

i don't give a **** 52 27.66%

Total:188

This is old news if you are a gamer who goes on the internet forums etc...

To me its not a massive problem if the stores tell people or there is a note in the box... except for those people who have bandwidth issues.. to not be able to play it at all until the patch...gah.

It's a shame that both MS and Sony have gone right up to the wire to get their OS sorted, otherwise MS could have created a CD that could have shipped with the box or they could have sent to the stores that went with the product.

I see no big deal unless you're going to game in a place that's remote and untouched by the likes of the internet. If that's the case get the "hook up" by a friend before bringing it home. A minor inconvenience, but not a deal breaker.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS

It's terrible, not playing a game because of a patch is bad enough, not being able to even experience the console you paid 500$ for, just because your Internet connection is down just feels like a bad joke.

The PS4 will also have a massive day one update so I don't really seen what is the problem here. Also I highly doubt you have crappy internet if you are able to spend $500+ on a console at launch.

Difference being, and hear me out on this because it may sound crazy. The difference being you can actually play games on a day 1 PS4 without an update.

Great for it, that still doesn't disprove my point that if you are able to spend $500+ you shouldn't have crappy internet.

Hold your horses until you know the size of both updates you can't claim that the one for the PS4 is much smaller.

Around 300mb

But no one knows the size of the X1 day one patch yet so what is your point.

No point, I'm just giving the size of the PS4 update.

Ouch. Let's hope people with no internet don't buy it

If your able to shell out over $500+ for a launch console you should have decent internet.  If not you probably should spend that money on upgrading your conection.

Some people just live in crappy internet areas, money has nothing to do with it. Rich people can live out in the country as well you know, being well off doesnt improve local telephone infrastructure.

Isn't that basically what the WiiU had?

no bro, it's automatically okay and accepted because it's not Nintendo :P

True. I believe this was asked to that Orth (don't remember his name correctly) and he replied the infamous "deal with it".
