Its still not a sensible argument, no matter which side uses it. You should really be factoring in something of substance such as the types of games you like, the kind of experience you want from the console, etc.

i'm not a Sony fans or M$/Nintendo hater, but it just happen naturally i also don't know why PlayStation platform always had the exclusive games i'm interested, and non of Xbox/Nintendo platform exclusives ever make me interested at all... i guess that's the same case to many always Xbox/Nintendo prefered user too, its all about fate...

Getting a certain game console (or anything... not just gaming) because that's what your friends are getting is the dumbest, most retarded thing that can every be said a human being. Well maybe not #1 dumbest, but still stupid... hella stupid.

You are more or less saying "I am just doing what I am told" lol you are weak. Hella weak!!!

This world is full of leaders and followers. More followers no doubt. And when you say that, you are a followers.

Why not make up your own mind. Or better yet, make all your friends get what you want them to!!! Much better then you being told what to do by your friends group leader

Be the leader, not a follow along pussy

As much as you say customers are buying a system because their friends are playing it, they are actually saying indirectly that they are buying the system because of the games. If a group of friends are playing the same system, other friends will see and think to themselves "Man, that system must have some good games if that's what my friends are playing" We have seen what happens when a system doesn't have any compelling games or not enough of them. As long as the games are there people will buy the system, along with their friends.

Yup, this is the main reason I hear. I have friends who decided they were getting the One before we even knew anything about the new consoles simply because they have a 360. I've tried debating with them before and they know full well that the PS4 is better, but they don't want to switch because they are used to the 360...I've corrupted a few though. The rest will come in time, all in good time.

I completely agree. I get a system based on what is best, not what others tell me to get. I have enough friends that there will always be someone to play with, and I can make new friends easily...

That reason is usually the same reason I hear people give about why they play COD. Just last Thursday when I went to Gamestop to pick up Killzone, the guy ahead of me was picking up Battlefield. He said that he was "a COD player", but he liked the SP of Battlefield. He then said that his friends only play COD, so he won't even try the multiplayer for Battlefield. My friends that play COD are the same way. I call them sheep from time to time.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

The more you work with people, the more you are disappointed in them sometimes. Yes, crowd pressure and peer pressure (not as much pressure as reinforcement, really) are very real, having worked in customer service, I encountered it frequently. Mostly with yer typical "chavs" and "dudebros" picking up iPhones like a storm? Why? "Because it's cool and all my friends have one".

It's annoying, but what can you do? If that's the peoples' reasoning, I doubt you'd change much even if you tried,

Uhg yes this^

I also hate the tablet revolution going on. It makes no sense!!!!!!! So you are telling me you have to have this $400 tablet that does the same stuff your phone does, bulkier, etc?

"But the phone has a small screen. I can barely see anything. Thats why I want a tablet"

"They have something to fix that, its called a laptop/netbook, ever heard of them? They cost half the price"

"Too big, I want something portable"

AAAAAAHHHRRRGG! My brain just fries at that point >_>.......

I don't understand tablets either...here's a prime example too!

I was in the MS store near me last week looking at the One display they had (not playable of course) and I started to look at one of the new Surface Pro 2 tablets when one of the people who works there came up to me and started talking to me about it. I told him that I didn't understand why it was so expensive ($1,138.00 for the 128 gb tablet with that keyboard/case thing.) and he started to talk about how it had  4 gb of Ram and the 128 gb HDD and the 1080p screen and the i5 processor and blah blah blah. Which I told him was all fine and dandy, but my laptop would eat that tablet, burp, and be on it's way AND it was less expensive. He just said "alright, well if you have any questions just let me know." and walked away.

Ive noticed this as well, especially with this years annual release. People ask me which one is better, instead of saying A or B I just run through what each game offers. They will mention how amazing Battlefield sounds but refuse to buy it over CoD simply because thats what their friends play.

Idk, maybe I am just more independent hermit type of gamer. But I don't need validation from friends to make a purchase. I also don't NEED to play with friends, thats why these games have online communities. I have never had any issue with playing with random ppl in Uncharted. The experience is just the same. Sometimes that makes it more interesting than playing with those I know. Its also how you make NEW friends. Thats why my friends list is always full, from the ppl i meet via Multiplayer games. Are most gamers agorophobic or something?

I really want to do a social experiment with a clique of friends. Ask them each why they are getting a particular game. I have a hunch they will all say the same thing. So then will have to find out how this hive mind mentality really works. Who is the first person making this decision? and Why?

Well there you go. The reason you continue on with PS systems is because you like their games, or at least they peak your interest.

I would bet that in most cases you wouldn't find one person making the choice that everybody else follows. I bet you that in most friend circles, the conversation of which console to get never happens. They just all assume that everyone else is getting the new version of what they already have.
