Everyone just cool it in here. Too many feathers are getting ruffled.

Indeed, but it makes no sense, given nothing in here changes the bottom line.

Do any of these threads ever do? It's a donut hole in moderation, however, as the subject is legitimate enough to discuss (so we can't just summarily lock these threads), while the trolling that goes on is usually mild enough to pass muster, so we just have to leave them until the thread either dies off on its own or grows out of control at such a rate that it has to be shut down before mass bannings ensue

They are, in short, very annoying. I have advocated to other mods that there should be one "graphics" thread per console, to at least keep it contained, but some mods are opposed to omnibus threads (i myself take issue with omnibus threads, but feel they would work in this case, since what gets said in each thread ends up being the same thing over and over again, as opposed to massive threads like Nintendomination or the Vita Thread, where news is so sprawling that its impossible to keep a fixed conversation going)

It can get annoying with a new post about the same thing every other day..especially when people are trying to re-enforce their own agenda.... but I have to admit I am not a big fan of a single post that has thousands of posts in it, and then people just change the heading. It gets really difficult to follow a thread that way @_@

I think threads like this one is cool because its based on a particular bit of news... rather than just another rumour.

But yeah, the threads usually end up the same way. Guess it's one of the challenges (fun???) of forums.

but and people talking about audio chip, don't expect Sony to have a poor solution (even tough they haven't detailed it) because they are in that bussiness as well and PS3 is good in this part (I could say that the main reason for MS bigger audio chip is kinect voice recognition, and in game usage both will be similar and PS4 mic will be somewhat worst).

Actually, when it comes to audio DSP, it seems that XOne has actual advantage there. From what I understood, unlike PS4's DPS, which is capable of off-loading in-game chat and decoding mp3 audio streams for in-game use, XOne's in addition runs all EQ/Dynamics/Reverbaration and mixing on dedicated silicon - PS4 needs to run those things on CPU ("native" solution).

Not sure of everything that Sony audio DSP will offload, what I said is if we count everything the MS will do (it will probably do more), but if we just consider the use in games it can be similar (have sony stated everything that the Sony will do?)... and as I said, Sony have background in audio processing, I don't think they will do a blunder.

Forza 5 looks like a cartoon? I don't know what to even say to that one.

Out of curiosity, Penello said not too long ago that the forum goers discussing these things didn't know what they were talking about.

Does this confirm or deny his claim?

Depends on which forum goers Penello was talking about.

GAF, as that is the forum he made an account on and eventually bailed out with.

I know that.  I mean, not everyone is saying the same thing about Xbox One, some are saying one thing, others are saying something else.  What group was his comment aimed at though?

Not sure. Seemed like a general statement aimed towards the discussions themselves and no specific users.

The thing is, people on GAF know who is trustworthy and who is not.

Ethomaz would probably know better than I if anyone specific users were singled out, although personally I don't think he singled out anyone.

After reading the GAF thread for the last few hours, it looks like the general consensus is that nothing has really changed with this information. Except that it raises more questions.. :)

It does most likely put the "NDA/Secret Sauce" stuff to bed, especially the hidden dGPU thing. Though I am sure this will run and run.

Ok... The PS4 is more powerful than the XBO.

Big effin' deal.

The games are what matter in the end, right? And seriously, both consoles offer outstanding looking games for their console launch. Both have games that look amazing from a technical point of view, and I don't agree with anyone saying the gap is obvious (Hey, Ethomaz). When I look at the games from both consoles, I see games that are on pretty much the same level, visually.

Will the gap increase over the console gen? Most certainly.

But right now, I don't see any visible gap. When you look at the numbers, sure, the PS4 is ahead. But when you look at the games in motion, you don't see those numbers. Seriously, 900p upscaled vs native 1080p... there's probably a difference, but that's basically the same kind of difference as the one comparing the PS3 version of GTA IV with the 360 versions. -__-

I really do not see the need for MS (or anyone for that matter) to defend the X1. The last 2 generations showed us that even the least powerful console can win the war. I mean, personal attacks for counter points? My goodness...
