Forums - Microsoft - Digital Foundry vs. the Xbox One architects... or the end of the secret sauce craziness

Who cares about the technical terms... If the games LOOKS awesome, that's it... Stop your "mine is better than yours" attitude in every threads you are posting. If the game runs at 720p but looks 10x times better than another game running at 1080p; I will not just blindly ignore the first one just because of the technical term.

Do you realize that you are the only one in this thread trying to talk about how better things are on one side compared to the other one... Again...

Just, let it go now...

No MS is trying to talk about that... not me... I just enter into the subject of the thread.

at OP: They haven't really answered what difference they expect a GDDR5 with 8 Gb against a DDR3+e will have... how will the difference in size at high speed will compare to their a bit faster using a small poll and "slow" big poll... I believe that for the difference to be not really big the coding will need to be really clever (and actualy I really believe that 30 to 50% is possible, but won't be really noticeable if developers use the right areas to compromise).

But what is most incredible and would be interesting to learn is how they will manage to wright/read simultaneously, It may contribute to general computation more than some of the things Sony is coming with... but and people talking about audio chip, don't expect Sony to have a poor solution (even tough they haven't detailed it) because they are in that bussiness as well and PS3 is good in this part (I could say that the main reason for MS bigger audio chip is kinect voice recognition, and in game usage both will be similar and PS4 mic will be somewhat worst).

While their architecture is interresting, I really doubt a lot of developpers (other than first party) are going to use that :) So for me, the DDR5 would have been a better choice (overall).

Last thread I was right about what I said  but nobody cares because the truth hurts.

Probably because you're not always right.

In terms of a balanced machine, what concerns me with that, as a peice of tech the XboxOne Seems less balanced in terms of just being a well thought out machine. It's larger than the PS4, it has an external power supply, the controllers need batteries, you can't swap the hard disk. All of these things concern me with the quality of the engineers.

They can say on one hand that they have a more balanced console but cannot get the basics right in terms of those basics, how can i believe their engineers are better than Sony's at this point. Crazy.

In terms of raw power/power, i think some things will definately be toned down in XbO games compared to PS4, but you have to question how much of that you will notice. going down to 900p you might not notice a difference. So i agree with that, but saying the frame rate might be a single digit, well as long as its under 5 FPS thats fine, but if its more like 9, thats a problem.

Unfortunately this argument is going to continue way past console release. :(

And you listed a lot of the reasons why I haven't bought Xbox360 and are not planning a One right now... but for the games (the exclusives in them don't interest me much) their fans seem to like and I don't believe it will be "unplayable" compared to PS4... So even if there is 30 to 50% difference in the first party they can be well hidden, we saw in PS3 that depending on the willingness of the developer the came can look and play a lot better than you think when looking at lazy devs... for the sake of my xbones friends I hope devs try their better on both and the only difference we see is the actual raw dif not because of poor coding, so even if PS4 are a lot better (that is what a lot think) a xbone version is enjoyable and in the 1st party they have the blast they expect.

@imagedvl: Yes I agree with you, and MS was probably surprise that Sony got 8Gb with GDDR5, but they won't public assume that and will try their best to show that their option is a valid one.

I give you that. We all believe we are right when we are biasily talking about our loved console/company/product/what ever :)

The difference is that after some time the company confirms what I was talking about... this article from EG with MS quotes is a example, a lot of "bullshits" I said before was confirmed.

I can say something wrong... of course I can... everybody can make mistakes and I accept when I do that but in the latestes thread I'm dissussing and showing the mistakes/bull in the theories posted but I am treated like a hater.

The Xbone version of the games will run worst than the PS4 version... the only exception will be if there are any locked target to the low spec system... and the PS4 exclusives games for the launch are in techinical terms more advanced than the Xbone ones.

BTW what make Forza 5 impressive for you in techical terms?

Who cares about the technical terms... If the games LOOKS awesome, that's it... Stop your "mine is better than yours" attitude in every threads you are posting. Indeed, but it makes no sense, given nothing in here changes the bottom line.

Do any of these threads ever do? It's a donut hole in moderation, however, as the subject is legitimate enough to discuss (so we can't just summarily lock these threads), while the trolling that goes on is usually mild enough to pass muster, so we just have to leave them until the thread either dies off on its own or grows out of control at such a rate that it has to be shut down before mass bannings ensue

They are, in short, very annoying. I have advocated to other mods that there should be one "graphics" thread per console, to at least keep it contained, but some mods are opposed to omnibus threads (i myself take issue with omnibus threads, but feel they would work in this case, since what gets said in each thread ends up being the same thing over and over again, as opposed to massive threads like Nintendomination or the Vita Thread, where news is so sprawling that its impossible to keep a fixed conversation going)

This changes nothing about the xbone's architecture as they just confirmed our speculations that has went for months. (Hopefully this will make misterxmedia keep his mouth shut about microsoft lying about the secret sauce not being there.)

Don't keep a tab on the Domination threads, but probably would be less bickering if silly threads, rumours, flamebaits or comparison (even more when not everything is know about all systems compared) wasn't created all the time, because most people wiill fell a need to discuss that and prove other wrong... when you just say nice things about your preferance without dragging other to comparison and without discussing impossible things the community would be really peacefull.
