I plan on buying both systems, but the XBOX ONE will be my first purchase. Xbox Live is just the seal of the deal and always will be. Its such a great format compared to PSN. Plus the exclusives for the Xbox One out weigh that of the PS4. But as I said, i will DEFINITELY get the PS4 as well. Its such a great system. I'm a gamer, and I dont believe in buying one system, and then bashing the other. Loyalty to GAMING, not to a CONSOLE! Those who enjoy the fanboy console war trash talk confuse me.

I'm still going to take a wait-and-see approach with the X1, even with all the policy changes they've made in recent months. The 360 was my first MS console and I enjoyed it immensely in its first couple years, especially with all the great JRPG exclusives they had (Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, etc). However, by year 4 or so the # of exclusives have really dwindled down and was basically left with Halo, Gears, Forza, and Fable. I basically haven't touched my 360 the last 3 years outside of the aforementioned games. This is just my opinion and experience with the 360.

I appreciate the fact the Sony is still showing a lot of support for the PS3, even with the launch of the PS4 just a few months away. This is year 7 of the PS3 and we're still getting a lot of exclusives like Ni no Kuni, Gran Turismo 6, The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, Rain, Tales of Xillia 1+2, Rachet & Clank, Dragon's Crown, etc.

While the X1's lineup of exclusives in year 1 look very impressive, I'm a little concerned what their support will be like a few years into the console's life cycle. Will they still invest $1 billion every year into securing exclusives like they did for year 1 of the X1? or is it going to follow the same path as the 360? So for me personally, I feel that the PS4 will be a better long-term investment because they've shown to me that they will support their consoles well beyond the first 4-5 years of the life cycle.

I may still get the X1 eventually, but it probably won't be until their first price drop at the earliest. Releasing a Kinect-less SKU will also make the console more appealing to me as I have zero interest in motion gaming.

My feelings exactly. Word for word.

Get out of my head :P

My feelings as well. MS is pulling the third party exclusive and timed exclusivity trick but once the first three years are over, we'll see how they treat their actual first party.

If they announce a Kinectless bundle I MIGHT be tempted to cancel my PS4 pre-order and go back to the xbox brand, but until then they have no chance of me spending my hard earned cash on their console.

Your so blinkered its scary. Your seeing Indie dev who spent over 10,000 grand on a PS4 devkit as the only devs this gen.

Im seeing the thousands of potential Indie devs in their bedrooms right now with not the money to buy these expensive Sony kits.

There ( if your not blinkered to the industry as it was last gen ) is your 1000's of unreleased PS4 games that are only released on The One because Microsoft have cut WAY in front of PS4 by takig out the need to spend, taken out the need to get a publisher.

  • Also until recently you do know that you needed a publisher to make a game on the XboxOne, even though Sony had already done away with this ages ago. Xbox is trying to follow Sony with it's indie devs as they screwed up so much.

So now an Indie dev need $499, free software and can now self publish. Unless Sony give Indie devs PS4 dev kits free, they cant compete with that. Let alone modding.

  • So if you had bothered to read my previous posts you will know that Sony is giving Dev kits out to people for FREE. You can continue to ignore that if you wish, as you seem very blinkered.

Alot of Sony fans seem to cling to last generations mechanics. They dont seem to be very open minded or think out of the box. Unusual for a crowd who claim to like out of the box game ideas.

Nice people, Not to bright though. The Oracle - The Matrix.

As far as i understand it, there is no cost to a PS4 devkit, as long as you are a company making a game (of reasonable quality) you can get hold of one. So please give me a link to the indie dev who paid £10k for one. You make a statement please quantify it.

I recommend you use the internet more, use Twitter and follow  -  you might actually learn something about indie dev on the PS4/Vita. You may be shocked to find in terms of quality indies (that's what matters right) - Sony are well ahead at the moment. Of course if you have a MS twitter guy who is dealing with indie devs the same as Shahid, please share it.

Ok so I exaggerated the cost of the kit on PS4.

Sony has given free dev kits early to certain igh favoured developers. But only the ones it had early on. PS4 dev kits to anyone in their bedroom that  wants to design a game has to pay $2500. Where on Xbox One the max cost is currently $499 + $200 to be accepted to publish. Considerably less than te entry level to ev kits on  PS4 before any cost to publis it on PSN.

There is a higher chance a new indie sstart up will produce for Xbox One exclusive at least first off. Its a great business move for the industry on Microsofts part. Yes it may ave come about due to the competitiveness of Sony, but Microsoft went a step further than they ad to and more than us consumers thought they would.

It will be interesing to see if the next Minecraft come from a bedroom Xbox One developer, but we're more likely going to see a lot of fart apps, stick figure platformers and soundboards mixed in with a few gems that are going to be dumped in a pit in an undisclosed location in the Arcade. It's definitely cool that Microsoft will at least allow people who want to create games, but don't have the funds, to do so in some capicity for no extra cost to them - there are tons of talented student programmers out there. I'm not very optimistic about the quality, but we could end up with something like the equivalent Newgrounds on the Xbox One.

Can it play Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze? No? :p

The Xbox One is really looking like an amazing system. From every aspect. Games, multimedia  and socially.

1. $499 gets you a full blown Dev kit. Making a full mod comunity a real posibility for the first time in console history.

2.Massive focus on core gamers. Hugely varied first year lineup. Big budget AAA games.

3. Not only is the console a dev kit, but comes with 3 different control methods out of the box at no extra cost.

4. Powerful insides with the ability out of the box to take advantage of Cloud rocessing as that becomes moree and more accessible over the next 2-3 years.

5. The ability to handle true multitasking and instant switching.

6. Innovations like pulse triggers on the controller and a revolution in rumble feedback.

7. HDMI in/out. Big possibilities here through software.

8. Xbox Live Arcade. Its untouchable, especially now dev kits are available to everyone. Microsofts investment into XBLA games like Brothers : A Tale of Two sons is incredible. XBLA has so many higgh budget exclusives this gen and next.

9. XBL ecosystem and  userbase.

10. HAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLOOOOOOO

You dont know what an Xbone will be this holidays, what we have seen recently is that an Xbone is one thing one week and a weeks after that is another thing, over and over, we are far from the holidays to know what the launching Xbone will be/have, but the dev kit feature will not be available at lunch.

”The environment where PlayStation wins is best for this industry” (Jack Tretton, 2009)

It probably would win Christmas this year if point 10(Halo) was happening at launch. But im guessing Halo 5 will be out by next Christmas and if that's the case ill put my money on it winning that one.

Idk if I am buying either console at launch but if I do it will most certainly be the Xbox One because it is the only one that really seems to be doing anything different. The only thing PS4 seems to be doing over PS3 is charging for online play.

Much better launch lineup of games announced so far
Utilizing the cloud at launch
Vastly improved multimedia
NFL
Kinect possibilities

And of course mere months later, Titanfall
