As far as i understand it, there is no cost to a PS4 devkit, as long as you are a company making a game (of reasonable quality) you can get hold of one. So please give me a link to the indie dev who paid £10k for one. You make a statement please quantify it. I recommend you use the internet more, use Twitter and follow Shahid Kamal Ahmad - you might actually learn something about indie dev on the PS4/Vita. You may be shocked to find in terms of quality indies (that's what matters right) - Sony are well ahead at the moment. Of course if you have a MS twitter guy who is dealing with indie devs the same as Shahid, please share it. |
Ok so I exaggerated the cost of the kit on PS4.
Sony has given free dev kits early to certain igh favoured developers. But only the ones it had early on. PS4 dev kits to anyone in their bedroom that wants to design a game has to pay $2500. Where on Xbox One the max cost is currently $499 + $200 to be accepted to publish. Considerably less than te entry level to ev kits on PS4 before any cost to publis it on PSN.

There is a higher chance a new indie sstart up will produce for Xbox One exclusive at least first off. Its a great business move for the industry on Microsofts part. Yes it may ave come about due to the competitiveness of Sony, but Microsoft went a step further than they ad to and more than us consumers thought they would.
