Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Call of Duty: Ghosts coming to Wii U, runs same next-gen engine as Xbox One and PS4 version

Man Wii U is just sticking it to the haters nowadays. With all the games coming, and Call of Duty Ghosts being announced and being the next gen version, things just keep getting better and better for the console.

not 100% sure but i believe 360 and ps3 will also get "the next gen of the cod engine".

What else is new? The WiiU is much closer to the competitors than the Wii was.

haters gonna hate

Yes, this says a lot more about the new COD than it does about the WiiU, no hate intended.

This unfortunately proves that the next gen engine will suck balls just like their previous engine, not that I'm really surprised though. Is it new proprietary or based upon some other engine? IW engine, ID tech 4 or 5?

It proves no such thing at all.

Not surprising considering that the "next-gen" COD engine isn't exactly pushing any boundaries. I wonder if it'll be 60fps @ 1080p too, or if the resolution will be upscaled like BLOPSII was.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Makes sense. Wii U should be able to handle it. Probably stronger than most think.

It very likely is, as a very large percentage of the internet seems to think it's weaker than the 360. Or at least that's what they preach, even if they don't actually believe it.

gonna get this game on my wiiu, at launch.

it's from the original facebook announcement. Nothing but PR rhetoric. I suggest we wait until we see Wii U footage

Since when have COD games pushed the bounderies of the consoles they are built on? (I guess Wii kinda did)

The engine is "next-gen" as compared to the engine used on PS360 era. However, its not pushing the PS4/XBone to their limits. Plus its heavily scalable as all next-gen engines are.

Anyone who thinks any of these engines cannot run well on WiiU is being foolish. COD in particular will likley have very little differences. Certainly nothing that will make anyone care.

I doubt even Watch_Dogs will have much of a difference and it is using the same engine as well. In fact, I think these are the only games confirmed at this point to be using "next-gen" engines on all three next-gen hardware while PS360 are using different last-gen engines.

It'll be interesting to see this first year / first run game differences.

I'm calling it now.

PS4/XBone will be 1080p60fps
WiiU will be exact same game and content but somewhere between 720p and 1080p all the while at 60fps....

PLUS better control options (dual analog and/or wiimote)
PLUS off-tv play
PLUS no need for split screen
