Forums - Nintendo - Call of Duty: Ghosts coming to Wii U, runs same next-gen engine as Xbox One and PS4 version

Personally, I always thought the single player campaign in the CoD games looked fantastic after CoD4: Modern Warfare. Why people love saying it looks like crap is beyond me. I also have Black Ops II on the Wii U and I was fairly impressed by that game as well. The action was too chaotic, though. I wish it had better pacing instead of nonstop killing (before I quit and played nothing but multi-player). Knowing that the Wii U will be able to handle even better graphics pleases me. Even if it's not up to PS4/Xbox One standards, I'll be glad to buy this game. The off screen mode and no need for split screen have already made BO2 on the Wii U amazing for me.

I doubt even Watch_Dogs will have much of a difference and it is using the same engine as well. In fact, I think these are the only games confirmed at this point to be using "next-gen" engines on all three next-gen hardware while PS360 are using different last-gen engines.

Source? I haven't heard Watch Dogs on Wii U will be using the PS4/X1 engine while PS3/360 won't.

I don't feel like googling it for you, but Ubi stated a while back that next-gen versions were already in work by one team and the PS360 versions would start later by a different team. THen there is a more recent Ubi dev discussion that talks about the general differences from peak performance in PS4/Xbone to that of PS360. (obviously with WiiU somewhere in middle)

Just like last year, we'll have to wait for our heroes at Digital Foundry to pass judgement on how well the game performs.

I've always felt that COD had underrated single player but grossly overrated multiplayer. The campaigns may not be Bioshock great, but they're some decent brainless fun.

Did Ubisoft ever say they were counting the Wii U among the "next gen" consoles though?

The inference is fairly obvious.

Of course it does. The differences in the 8th gen will be a lot smaller than a lot of people realize.

I highly doubt that claim. I mean just look at the the facts. And don't get me wrong i love my Wii u just as much as I am going to love my PS4 and Xbpx One, but specs do mean something. Difference between Xbox One and PS4 will be minimal and we all will see just how minimal this gen except for exclusives maybe. But there is no way the Wii u can keep up at all all. If there is not a big difference then we will know where cod ghost stand graphically compared to everything else this coming gen.

What he is referring to is the law of diminishing returns and the fact the gap between Wii and PS3/X360 was much larger than the gap between Wii U and PS4/Xone.

The law of diminishing returns notes that the perceptive difference in increases in power become less noticible with each increase.  That doesn't mean they won't be perceptible at all, just less so.

This can be looked at similarly to the differences seen in discrete PC GPU's.   At the low end, the difference between double the RAM, speeds, shaders, etc..is very noticible.   At the high end, those differences start to become mcuh harder to perceive.

That's awesome, thanks!

I'd heard the claim plenty of times before but never saw the evidence til now.
