Brawl has more model detail that U. Its easily visible on Fox,Link and Mario

What? Look at the closeup of Link. Look at the hair and the clothes. They are better on the left (WiiU).

Well he actually looks better in SSBU. His texture quality is higher and there are no discernable polygons in his model.

For me the same except color and no AA in SSBU.

High resolution is suppose to have less aliasing than lower resolutions but the image shows more... so the lower resolution version has AA and the high resolution not.

No AA in both. And you don't see the polygons on the right?

they look the same, but with more poly count and way higher res. plus better textures too

looks like nintendo wants to focus on 1080p 60fps instead of just pushing the envelope but with multiple bugs and troubles like sloppy framerates, pop up, screen tearing...etc

of course the gaming community will not apreciate Nintendos view and will bash them for not pushing technology as always

The Smash Bros. games have never been graphically advanced, NEVER, not on the N64, not on the GC, not on the Wii, and it's not gonna be on the Wii U...

But, Oh my motherf... God... Anyone that says that Brawl looks better, really needs to have their eyes checked, or really doesn't knows what they're talking about. The difference in detail is massive, and I'm not talking only about resolution or AA.

I mean, look at Link's fu***** hair now looking like motherfu****g real hair, his goddamn chainmail perfectly detailed, the perfect texture and the increased polygon count of his damn tunic, his perfectl elvish face where you can't see a motherf***** polygon merging...

Seriously, are you all kidding me? SERIOUSLY? Really, some of the responses here made me want to hit my damn face against my damn keyboard...

Everything looks much much cleaner. The clothes alone show the level of detail. I guess people liked the art style more but don't forget that this game is a year away from release, still a lot of effort to be put in. The version they showed at E3 is not even up to date probably.

Also am I the only one who hated denim Mario? Imo some of the characters suit the cartoony graphics!

Weird... the high resolution picture have a lot more aliasing.

Please tell me why we're comparing such tiny pictures. I'm not going to play on a TV smaller than a Game Boy.

Not a crazy jump, but you can tell it is def. next gen. This also shows us how much effort they put in the last one.

Compared to how little it seems they're putting into this one graphically. Brawl looked very good for a Wii game, while Smash U looks mediocre for a Wii U game.

I wouldn't say that at all.

To each their own, visual appeal is subjective, but I don't think this:

Comes close to this:

Or this:

In terms of lighting SSBU looks better than both X and Bayonetta. As we have said sometimes there are diminishing returns in graphics, in a cartoony looking game like Smash Bros you'll see diminishing returns much faster than on realistic looking games. Also it's not really a good comparison, how many games like Smash bros have you seen on HD consoles so far? Consider it's 4 player action, 60fps, a lot of stuff going on on screen at once; not only characters but also itmes pokemons and other stuff...it's not really comparable.

At last, it's not really usefull to have 4 times more poligons and very tiny details on characters since the action is very dinamic and you would't see a noticable difference while playing anyway, on the other hand you would see a difference on backgrounds but you would still have some drawbacks; with too much stuff on backgrounds you would get eyestrained trying to follow the action. If you don't belive me, please remeber this: http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/New_Pork_City

Smash Bros lighting is flat compared to X and Bayonetta, and pushing only 4 characters at once in a restricted area should allow it to push more fidelity than games with huge open evironments and many more characters on screen. The effects like explosions look straight out of Brawl too. They really should add some nicer effects.

If it really is 1080p/60fps, then it's not so bad, but if it's 720p, then it seems lazy to me.
