Forums - Sony Discussion - Surprise! PS4 will support Analog output!

I said it in another thead (with link) that beginning January 1st, 2013, it is no longer legal to have analogue video output in a blu-ray compatible device. Both the PS4 and the XBoxOne are blu-ray devices, so there will be NO analogue video output. The AVout is analogue audio.

"legal"? You mean contractually allowed.

Pretty sure Sony could bend any rule they wanted if it suited them.

So is this true or not, not that I care as I've upgraded to HD but whatever.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Another update from the site..

Update 1:30PM ET: I received word from our Sony contact and the official word is now “It does not support analog out.” Sony had listed analog-AV support on its official site, on the PS4′s Amazon page, and then a Sony PR representative confirmed the feature to ExtremeTech. After the $399 price announcement last week, it seems possible that some last minute cuts could have been have made which then lead to this confusion. Apparently even Sony can’t keep the details straight.

What a clusterfuck of communication. Just like MS with Xbone. Anyway IF this is the final information, then I will present my standpoint for that matter for the third time, and this time I can say I'm glad again.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

The major markets should become HDMI only (with the option to purchase an analogue converter that plugs into the HDMI port) in order to keep costs down. For emerging markets where the majority still may be analogue TVs, add it into the system.
